Project Brief: Lusail Plaza Towers is a centerpiece development at the heart of Lusail city in Doha, Qatar. This iconic project, which comprises 4 separate adjacent plots, is on target for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 opening. Each plot accommodates a super tall tower and podium area with 3-4 low rise buildings on each podium. It consists of two 70storey and two 50storey commercial towers with five basement levels. In addition, there are 14 podium buildings up to six storeys. The total built up area is close to one million meters squared.

Mechanical Services: The project has all Mechanical systems including but not limited to HVAC, BMS, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting, Fuel Oil System, Elevators & Drainage systems.

Infra Services: Sewer & Storm networks, Storm Water Infiltration System, Pressurized Systems (TSE, Potable Water, and Irrigation), Fire Water services, Lifting Stations (Storm Water), Underground Chilled Water pipes (From/to District Cooling Plant) and Fuel oil System (External).

Role Description: In my role as a senior lead, I adeptly managed the construction supervision consultant engineers to ensure that project progress aligns with construction standards, project specifications, and relevant regulations. Regular site walks were conducted to oversee work quality, monitor project advancement, and address Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) concerns. Moreover, I played an active role in leading and collaborating with the contractors' team engineers and managers, fostering adherence to stringent construction and safety protocols. Project Brief: Lusail Iconic Stadium is scheduled to host the opening match and final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is largest Football Stadium in Qatar having spectator seating capacity more than 80,000.

Mechanical Services: The project has all Mechanical systems including but not limited to HVAC, BMS, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting, Fuel Oil System, Elevators, Cold Stores, Kitchen Equipment, Subsurface Ventilation & Drainage systems.

Qatar Rail Metro Project -Gold Line Underground Station and Tunnel:

As a MEP Construction Assurance Engineer, I do review Contractor’s submittals, Facilitating the Progress / QCDD inspection and assuring the Compliance to (ER) Employer Requirements through Daily site surveillance inspections, Meetings / Workshops, Quality Observation reports, Safety Observation reports, PMC Surveillance Checklists, Site deficiency report, Non-Compliance report, Progress Tracker, Pre QCDD-Inspections and Witnessing the Site Progress, Testing and Commissioning of MEP systems.

Responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer of the CMCS, PMC Member: -

At QF HQ & RDC Projects:

Review and approve all mechanical related material submittals & shop drawings.

Verify that materials, manufactured goods, machinery, equipment … etc. delivered to the project are in compliance with project specifications and granted approvals.

Ensure that the mechanical shop drawings are coordinated with other discipline of the project prior to proceeding with any work and highlight to the project manager any discrepancies for the necessary corrections.

Assist and provide necessary data, information & reports required by the project manager (including labor, supervisors, engineers, plant and equipment, status, site progress, amendments, delays, etc.) for submission to the Client.

Carryout inspections (Request for Inspection and Test-RFIT) for all Mechanical services (HVAC, Plumbing-Water supply, Drainage, Fire Protection, Fire suppression system, Irrigation, Fuel oil system, Tie-ins to centralized utility services), Materials and Equipment Delivered to site.

Ensure that all required testing & commissioning are conducted successfully.

Providing Concise and relevant comments substantiating with Site Taken Photos, Specific requirements clauses from relevant Contract Specification, Codes and Standards to avoid any conflicts, thus, saving time and achieving progress.

Implement the Good Engineering practices at work by following Project Specification, Local rules and Regulation, Accepted Codes & Standards and also my own lesson learnt Experience.

Whilst site walks, capturing the Nonconformities, Site Deficiencies against the project requirements and report / intimate through agreed communication procedures / documents like NCR/N, SDR, Observation Reports, Letters, Workshops and e-Mail messages with clear explanation of such deficiency with supporting documents to avoid rejection of the works as well as to increase the productivity.

Carrying out continual Monitoring and controlling the project progress against the Project documents, Baseline Program with respect to Schedule, Scope, Quality, Quantity and Time via Letters, Meetings.

Assisting / Coordinating with my Project Planner for the successful Preparation of Project status / Monthly progress reports and reviewing / discussing the Mitigation plans

Attending the QCDD, Client’s HSSE inspections, Risk management meetings and circulating the Comments matrix, among the project stake holders, arranging the Follow up action / Open issue meetings to monitor the status of completions / compliances.

Preparing project Punch list / Snags / Outstanding works report for proper Control and monitor as well as to include in the Work Completion Certificate.

Certifying monthly invoices, Variation Claims

Monitoring Safety and Quality and ensuring implementation of Project Quality Procedures (PQP) and Safety management systems (SMS) at Project sites in coordination with relevant department heads.

Responsible for achieving the timely completion of the Project at the most economical manner.

Keep informed the Resident Engineer / Project Manager of CMCS, PMC about the Project status as on date.

Responsibilities as a MEP Contractor: -

Prepare Material submittals (as per Project Specification), Equipment Maneuring Plan (as per Site Condition), Method statements for Installation (in Compliance with DW, SMACNA, ASHRAE, UPC, IPC, NFPA), Testing and Commissioning, Pre-Commissioning (as per NEBB/ CIBSE/ AABC) and get approval from consultant and execute accordingly.

Prepare, review, Submit and get approval from the Consultant for Builders work drawing, Shop drawing, Coordination drawings.

Design Review for Heat Load Calculation, Pump Head Calculation for Open circuit and Closed-Circuit Pumps, Static Pressure Calculation for AHU/ FCU, Pipe Sizing and Equipment Selection

Quantity take-off and Validate the Quantities of Mechanical Materials, Equipments, Accessories against the approved Shop drawings.

Having Close coordination with the Procurement team for getting the Material delivery to site.

Having close coordination with Civil contractors in all the aspects and ensuring that No MEP activity is hindered due to lack of civil activities.

Preparing a Weekly, Bi-weekly Lookahead program based on the Main contractor workschedule / program and meeting the target.

Discussing and sorting out any site matters – Floor / Area Clearance, Facilities, Scaffold, Wall chipping / cutting, Builders Work openings / Boxouts, Surveyor support etc. with civil Coordinator/ Contractor.

Prepare for a Mockup installation, getting Consultant Approval and subsequently prepare the delivery schedule to avoid more storage space and associated costs.

Prepare a program for Manpower, Material deployment based on Main contractors’ program and follow-up to get those resouces on time.

Arranging the Manpower, Materials, Machinaries, Drawings / sketches and expediting the scheduled activities in coordination with Main Contractor.

Raise Inspection Request to the QA/QC Team and subsequently taking up the inspection with consultants for the completed Mechanical (HVAC, Water supply, Drainage, Fire Fighting for Internal and External / Infra Structure) installations.

Maintaining a Record for Material consumption, Progress, Over Time logs, Additional works due to variations, red mark ups for the changes / deviations.

Having everyday site walks and monitoring the progress, resolving the site problems, Coordination issues.

Attending the Progress meeting and handling the Main contractor, Consultants and sub contractors.

Providing feedback to Project Planner, regards to Progress, Issues handled.

Follow the project schedule and expediting the Planned activities with limited resources.

Carrying out the Commissioning Activities –Air Balancing, Water Balancing, Pre commissioning and Commissioning of All the Equipments, Systems with the help of Supplier / In House Commissioning Team / Third party Commissioning Team.

Prepare O&M Manuals, Commissioning Dossier, as built Drawings.

Attending the Defects during the DLPeriod on call basis.

Keep informed the Project Manager about the Project status as on date.
