The self- sustained naval base, which is served by a naval basin for vessels, comprises around 200 buildings with a total built up area of over 560,000 m . It is developed as a complete, integral, and state-of-the-art military facility encompassing all functions necessary for naval military operations. The Al Khor Transfer Station Project The project aims at collecting garbage in Al Khor area and the villages around, to be sorted out and compressed to be transferred to recycling factory in Mesaieed. The Al Khor Transfer Station is expected to work at a rate of 1500 ton per day, taking the population increase expectancy in the area using state of the art technology in this regard. The work involve building and providing all of the equipment and machinery for the waste management facility. In addition to the waste transfer station, the facilities include a loading centre, administration building, staff accommodation building, storage building and an internal roads network. The contract also involve building car parking and carrying out soft and hard landscaping. The Project scope of work comprises Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and other related services described in the contract of the Scope of Work Document. The objective of the contract is to facilitate the implantation of a MARPOL compliant waste reception and management system at Ras Laffan for the ports at Ras Laffan, Al Khor and Al Ruwais. QP has engaged the services of persons International limited to develop a Front –End- Engineering Design (FEED) for the this facility The Feed will in turn be implement through an Engineering Procurement Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) Contract.
