WORK EXPERIENCE

November 2022-Present. Kennel Attendant (PT), Animal Hospital of Howard, Green Bay WI.

Set up kennels and/or cleaning and disinfecting unoccupied and occupied kennels as well as water and food bowls. Check in boarding patients. Transport animals to and from the kennels. Ensure that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times. Clean animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels. Dispose of trash in a timely manner. Groom, play with and administer necessary medication to animals under the direction of the Veterinarian. Accompany animals on walks as required; typically, two longer play times per day. Calm the animals who are in distress. Adjust the air temperature and kennel blankets to ensure that the animals remain comfortable. Report any significant changes noticed visually in functioning or behavior to the Veterinarian on duty/on call.

April 2022-August 2022. Post-Surgical Assistant (PT Volunteer), Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, West Palm Beach, FL.

Assisted animals in the operating suite by working with the medical services team to monitor animals recovering from spay/neuter surgery and other medical procedures. Duties included monitoring anesthetized cats and dogs, removed the breathing tube in a timely manner, placed E-collars on the dogs, monitored temperatures of the animals to determine if Bair Huggers were necessary, sterilized surgical instruments, prepared instrument packs, prepared syringes and cross-checked microchip information. Returned the animals back to their recovery area after post op clearances were observed.

April 2022-August 2022. Animal Care (PT Volunteer), Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, West Palm Beach, FL.

Assisted Animal Care staff with the daily care of the dogs, cleaned kennels, walked & enrichment activities, washed dishes, laundry, and grooming. Documented any unusual behaviors of the dogs.

August 2022-August 2022. Kitten Foster (PT Volunteer), Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, West Palm Beach, FL.

Fed, socialized, groomed, trained and provided any necessary medication when required. Provided positive reinforcement techniques, human interaction every 2 hours of the day. Observations made regarding the health, behavior and attended to those needs. I brought the foster kittens back to the shelter for follow-up visits and communicated appropriately. The kittens had to be weighed every day and chart documented. Followed all necessary protocols and communication to Peggy Adams Staff during the foster care.

October 2017-April 2019. Writer/Editor, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Arlington, VA; Telework remote position from home.

The Human Capital (HC) Communications and Engagement Division (Correspondence & Coordination Branch), coordinates HC responses to external oversight stakeholders, which includes inquiries from Members of Congress congressional staffs and committees; Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Office of the Inspector General (OIG) audit teams, Freedom of Information Act Requests (FOIA), and Equal Employment Opportunity inquiries.

-Served as liaison with the TSA EXECSEC and Office of Legislative Affairs; coordinated and developed responses to HC related congressional inquiries, including: constituent letters and questions for the record (QFR).

-Coordinated review and comments on proposed legislation and other congressional actions that might impact TSA’s personnel management system, workforce authorities and human capital policies.

-Served as HC’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) liaison with the TSA FOIA Branch; coordinated response to HC related FOIAs.

-Responded to various internal and external inquiries regarding workforce issues or controversial issues within TSA.

-Provided writing and editing support to HC executive and senior leaders.

-Coordinated development of annual and other reports describing HC accomplishments and business processes.

-Served as the liaison with the TSA Audit Liaison Division to coordinate HC participation in and response to GAO and OIG audits of human capital operations. Received GAO and OIG audit requests, notifications, and coordinated scheduling with and participation by affected HC staff. Received requests for information related to GAO and OIG audits; assigned response to appropriate HC staffs; reviewed and consolidated all response information; submitted final response to the Audit Liaison Division and tracked items to ensure full and timely HC cooperation and support.

December 2013-October 2017. Human Resources Specialist, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Arlington, VA.

The Policy Division provides guidance to other program offices within Human Capital and TSA on applying policy in an operational environment. This includes creating recommendations or briefing materials to assist in the development of a proposed program, answering policy related questions that come up during program implementation, and assisting TSA Leadership when necessary.

-Wrote and Edited Policy - Worked with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from HC Operations, OSO, and other component offices in order to further research and write new policy as well as edit existing policy. Served as the SME for the policy and provided guidance and instruction to the component offices in order to come to an agreement on the written material to move forward for the TSA internal policy. My primary areas of responsibility were in the areas of pay/compensation/staffing.

-Responded to Operational needs – Wrote broadcast messages, operational notices, and other guidance that establishes or clarifies TSA policy as needed. This process included writing/editing/formalizing the final product that was forwarded for publishing on iShare for dissemination to the necessary audience. Communication was clear and concise and oral communication conveyed the technical requirements of the information being requested. The oral communication was demonstrated when providing informational training updates to various program offices upon request (e.g. Pay Setting).

-Reviewed and provided comments on all proposed TSA and DHS policy on a wide variety of topics. This process was accomplished on our team on a daily basis; I edited other team members’ policies, memos, presentations and general correspondence prior to submitting to leadership.

-Member of the DHS Pay Sub Council: Participated in quarterly meetings and provided any information resulting from data calls for DHS, always coordinating with the proper HC division dependent on the information required. All responses were collected and provided in a timely manner.

-Participated in all necessary activities related to the Management Control Objectives Plan (MCOP) and the Performance Evaluation Plan (PEP) to ensure program objectives were specific, measurable, and achievable as outlined in the HCs Statement of Work (SOW).

-Reviewed and provided comments on proposed HC policy. Coordinated all responses back to the respective program office. Worked together as a team to coordinate all employment related policies for consistency and clarity. Edited the writing of other team members on the shared policy page for internal review; ensured adherence to the rules of writing and grammar prior to being routed for global vetting.

-Wrote and/or edited direct replies/responses to incoming questions from field HR Specialists, FSDs, and AFSDs which dealt with application of a specific policy and procedure. Appropriate research and background information was obtained in order to prepare the response.

-Answered questions regarding applying policy in an operational environment. Deadlines to these questions were often time sensitive and the ability to plan and organize was crucial when handling various subject matter inquiries at one time.
