KardexRemstar Inc., a worldwide leader in the manufacturing and marketing of automated storage and retrieval systems, The Software Installer/Support Technician is responsible for providing quality software service to our customers and is primarily responsible for the installation and training of software products sold and/or supported by Charterstar, Inc. This position will include travel 75%-100% of the time. The position does not need to reside in the Westbrook Maine office. Travel is primarily in the US and Canada, but periodically can also include other countries. When not traveling, other duties will include assisting the software support group with support calls and various other duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform installation of KardexRemstar’s Inventory Control software, and connect to storage and retrieval systems and related products. Perform detailed training to our customers in operation and maintenance of the software. Maintain a detailed record of visits including technical problems, software bugs, customer issues, etc. Report issues back to Westbrook office and include in installation report. As my role as Design Technical Lead I was responsible for developing testing for custom programming for our software ( alter the algorithm to accommodate certain workflow not common to our software ). Testing integration with ERP systems from customs ( which could be SAP, Oracle, SQL, XML or flat file ). Security, IP addresses, Group policy, Proxy, network issues to name some deterrence.

Part of integration team merging John Hancock and Manulife Technology . This role was instrumental in transitioning the company to new technology and behavior best suited for the environment.

Actuarial department had it’s major server being decommissioned. The monthly cost would have been 250,000 a month. I was the only person who knew the server as well as the application which was Triton. Worked with server team and vender to configure and setup new server to save them the monthly charge.
