My professional experiences have been a very interesting combination of company ownership/ operation/management, contract work/ full-time employment and product/patent development.

Some Career Achievements

I have designed / developed / prototyped, team- managed and “productized” a highly innovative, extremely high-power (over 250kW), super-precise, highly efficient and fully scale-able, digital / mixed-signal, modular design, large-scale RF power source, as the key-technology used in Utilities Power-generation flue-gas NOX & SOX removal systems, industrial electron beam welders, Particle Accelerators and LINAC systems. Initial clients were TRIUMF / BC, FERMI LABS / Chicago, the US DOE and IHEP in Beijing, China. This effectively replaces the highly inefficient and expensive legacy RF power-source systems employing 50’s technology called Klystron tubes in legacy Particle Accelerators.

I developed and built, along with a small team, a large scale, 12-channel high-throughput Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, which is successfully utilized by many large pharmaceutical firms to reduce development cost and speed up the new drug invention process by more than an order of magnitude. It identifies experimental new drug compounds that will kill you from those that won’t, based on statistical measured evidence.

On the other end of the cost-scale, a past design and developed product is a small internal mask-worn microphone called the E-MIC, which requires no power to effectively solve a severe acoustics problem exhibited in all breathing masks typically worn by firefighters, police / SWAT and other emergency personnel. Most often used with software-encrypted two-way radio communications systems (such as the ECOM network in BC) where the power budget is limited. My patent for this was later issued by the USPTO for Savox of Finland.
