My work experience has been with students ranging from 2 to 16 years old in school settings and private tutoring in student’s homes. Each session I have with students consists of reading, answering questions and expanding on topics to focus on vocabulary and details. My goal is to have students confidence and understanding enhanced through classroom activities and extend into new ideas.

I believe students want to learn, and take pride in their accomplishments. For this reason I hold students to high standards. The foundation of my teaching is the expectation of students accomplishing more and pushing their abilities further. I provide instruction, support, and tools for students to learn and use information.

My class structure emphasizes following directions, and learning to act independently. I use daily routines, clear rules, and signals in the class so students are organized and aware of what is expected. My skills suit this opportunity at Pave Academy and I look forward to fulfilling the high standards of your program.

Experience

●Buratino: September 2019- Present

I am the lead teacher and prepare daily math, art, science, and building experiences for students at centers. I teach and review math and English concepts every morning using center materials and reading poems and stories with students. At this school I have seen the different ways students learn and understood the benefit of providing opportunities of using group, art and hands on activities along with the curriculum because students can express and acquire knowledge through different mediums.

• Steps to Success: March 2017–September 2019

Lead teacher for a class of 18, 3 and 4 year old students. I prepare and present lessons to help students learn letters, science, social studies, and math through stories, crafts and daily review. My time here has provided me with effective class management experience and equipped me for teaching in a classroom.

• Tiny Bumblebees: December 2015–March 2017

Lead teacher of a 2 and 3 year old group. I used daily songs and reading to familiarize students with new words. I organized activities to provide student interaction and reinforce concepts such as shapes, colors, and sorting. This position taught me the usefulness of having daily plans and back up plans. When students see that the teacher is control, the class moves at a consistent pace and students are not left to find something to do for themselves.

• Buratino: October 2015- December 2015

Lead teacher of a pre kindergarten class where I prepared and conducted daily circle time, group and individual activities at centers. At this school I learned the value of having classroom agreements. The agreements are wonderful for shared expectations that teachers and students have agreed to from the first week of school needed for our learning environment to be successful.

• Little Berries day care March 2014 – December 2014

Teacher for thirteen nursery school childen where my duties were to manage and prepare daily lessons. Our activities focused on developing skills such as cutting and speaking through poems and songs. Here I learned how students benefit from routines. These young children were becoming independent in several areas because they were familiar with what to do.

• Brooklyn School of Inquiry – PS 686 September 2012- March 2014

Teacher assistant in a third grade classroom with responsibilities such as classroom management, teaching math concepts, facilitating independent reading, math learning, and science explorations. Here I learned the impact of consistency from the first day on classroom management. I also learned classroom management techniques that empower students instead of punishing them, for example the take a break seat.

Teacher assistant in art: I worked with students from kindergarten to fourth grade. We used materials such as paint, paper mache, clay, tissue paper, pastels, and saw their flexibility and how students use them to express their ideas. Here I learned the impact of being well prepared and having a serious approach to lessons on the classroom environment.

• Yeshiva Ohel Moshe September 2011- June 2012:

Teacher of a combined class of third and fourth grade students. I was responsible for teaching math, science, social studies, reading, and writing. This group of students had varying levels of need and to support student learning I set up mixed ability groups to provide flexibility and an opportunity for students to help one another.

• PS 315, Brooklyn, NY September 2007- December 2007

As a student teacher, I worked in a third grade class of 29 students with an experienced teacher.
