LASH was a COVID-19 field hospital that was set up where St. Vincent Medical Center was located. I worked at LASH prior to them receiving their first patient up until the date their last patient was discharged. I collaborated with the county’s triage team regarding transfers from other hospitals. I met with patients and their family members/ representatives and provided emotional support I provided grief support to families including mortuary information. I coordinated resources including the patient being discharged home with durable medical equipment, transferring to acute rehabilitation centers or self-isolation centers (hotel).

I work in a full-time 40 hour per week position providing social work services to the production team and participants on the show. These social work services include working with a multidisciplinary team of producers, ethicist, medical physician, psychologist, and participants on the show to coordinate care. I receive referrals from the production care team when they have challenging events of requesting medical records, insurance information, and community resources. I work on set by greeting each participant and their family member/ significant other, discuss the role of the Social Worker within the production team, provide support and encouragement. I then contact the participant the week following the show, discuss the plan that was recommended by the medical team during filming, and how the plan will be navigated. I work with the multidisciplinary team and participants to transition the participants from the recommendations of the medical team on the show to the participant’s primary care physician and/ or specialist.
