OCTOBER 2023

Hello,

I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Whitney. I am a multifaceted designer and creative with SO much to offer your business. A little history about me, I didn’t realize how much I loved design work until I entered college. I initially chose an education path in digital effects and post production and on that journey really fell in love with graphic design. I shifted my focus and graduated from art school in 2008 - at the worst possible time for the creative market. The recession was tough, but I remained resourceful. I picked up freelance gigs wherever I could and paid my bills by working in retail. This time spent in the retail environment gave me tremendous insight into the industry. I secured a job with a small family owned cannabis business in 2011. The regulations in that industry proved challenging. Eventually, the business grew to 4 locations. I always pressed the need for proper branding and marketing. I was promoted to Creative Director and after multiple ad campaigns and efforts we began to see explosive growth. I left my position there for bigger waters. It was time to expand my horizons as a designer. I landed my position with Navajo, shortly after leaving Oasis. Working with a creative team was amazing. Not only was I learning new techniques, I was growing stronger in my creative communication skills and widening my knowledge of the manufacturing process. I worked with some incredible people during this time. After some shifts in internal structures and stagnation on projects, I felt it was time to once again make a leap into new territory.

With Ad Light I began working in a sector I was unfamiliar with, fabrication and development. I learned quickly and eventually became one of the most reliable designers on the team with a 100% task completion rate and an overall 50% completion rate for my department. Unfortunately, the company was unable to meet my compensation requests and ultimately I decided to shift my focus to more creative endeavors and once again began freelance design.

I am a mother to 2 incredible boys, ages 9 and 11, and I am the love of my dog’s life. We own a home in East Denver. As always, life happens, and I find myself needing more flexibility with my time and more structure with my income. I am a dedicated worker and a hell of a creative thinker. I am talented, honest and witty and eager for an opportunity to show you my best.

Sincerely,

Whitney Dorman

Dear Sir/Madam,

It’s my pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Whitney Dorman as she seeks employment in the graphic design industry. I collaborated and worked with Whitney at Navajo Inc, for three years. We collaborated on several projects and we consulted and discussed ideas about our designs on a regular basis. Allow me to point out three examples of Whitney’s strengths. First, Whitney has a great understanding of market trends and instincts for identifying and creating artwork using the information researched. She is a creative spirit who brings whimsy and a fresh perspective to her work. Anyone who as worked in this industry long enough knows the difficult task to bring market trends with a bit of a twist to the design table and offer a thoughtful solution to a design problem. Working in a collaborative team environment, I’ve observed her creativity as well as her ability to apply the information she acquired to her projects. Second, Whitney brought a fresh and thoughtful design eye to her projects considering that she had little direction, no information and very little feedback from project managers. Her work on the Lynx logo felt contemporary and fresh. Although a lot of her concepts for our health and beauty line were not seen to fruition (for investment reasons), her ideas were creative and clever. She was able to collaborate with our international purchasing team to provide the information and files they needed to be able to move forward with product development.

Finally, Whitney has proven herself to be a strong internal cultural influence at Navajo Inc. She never held back from offering feedback, advice or suggesting an different way of approaching a problem which was greatly appreciated by the creative team. Her artistic sensibility was felt and valued by team members. She was easy to collaborate with and to work with, which was refreshing in our company cultural environment. In closing, I’d like to re-state my strong support for Whitney’s role in the design industry. I’m confident that she will surpass your expectations in her roles. Whitney is driven, thoughtful, proactively helpful, and smart. I know she will be an asset for any company. Please feel free to contact me at 303-***-**** or ad23o8@r.postjobfree.com with any other questions. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
