Exceptional Children Teachers Assistant
My duties as a paraprofessional was to assist the teacher through out the day with autistic students ages 14-22. I worked with them to obtain individual and group goals as a class. I did therapeutic activities with them to help them navigate through the school and prepare for life outside of school. Some of the students were medically fragile and we did administer medication that the nurse would prepare and instruct us on how to properly be given. For this role, I did have to obtain a CPI certificate which taught me the proper ways to restrain various body types in the proper way.
