Personal statement
I am a 47-year-old man who is a highly organized detail person who enjoy and excels at finding solutions to challenges I encounter in the construction industry. I am happily married with four children. I qualified as construction Manager and quantity surveyor in 2001. I have working knowledge of MS Projects, JBCC, NEC 4 and have done short courses in H&S on construction sites. Furthermore, I have 9 years’ experience as quantity surveyor, 12 years as construction manager. I am currently employed as operations manager with Zamil Engineers and Constructors. My duties includes but not limited to overseeing existing and new contracts. I also oversee the tendering department where we source tenders from all government departments. As construction manager I was involved in many hand over of different facilities and facilitating and leading teams of cleaners to bring the facilities to and over acceptable standard. Up to now, I have been involved in all aspects of construction, from planning and programming tendering, measuring, awarding tenders, construction, handing over projects and maintenance of projects as well as doing government tenders. Software used in my career are DataBuild, Builder Trend, CCS, QSplus, ms projects and Billsmart. I have also done work in industrial commercial and housing industries. In Addition, my knowledge of quantity surveying spans over years which includes estimating, costing of boq, variation orders, subcontractor claims, monthly certificates, ordering material, extension of time claims.
I am willing to work as an individual and in a team. I am a hard worker and learn quickly and have strong verbal and written skills. Also I have a strong background in Health and Safety on sites. It will be my pleasure to bring my experience, leadership, versatility, and dedication to your organization. Further to this I have also worked as PRECINCT MANAGER in Manenberg for the MURP department for the City of Cape Town from 2021 to June 2022 on contract bases.
