Goal
To obtain employment upon retirement from the Stow Police Department Experience
December 2003 to Present: Sergeant, Stow Police Department As a patrol sergeant I was still involved in general patrol, enforcement, and response to calls, while also being in charge of the shift. Patrol sergeants supervise officers on their shift, motivating and evaluating them. They’re often called upon to decide how calls are handled. I was also a crisis negotiator with Summit Metro SWAT from 2015 to 2020. As a sergeant I handled many administrative duties, including:
• Reserve unit coordinator- Recruiting, training, and supervising Stow PD’s non-sworn volunteer officers.
• Motor Vehicle Pursuit Review Committee- worked with a group of officers reviewing motor vehicle pursuits to ensure compliance with department policy and state law.
• Summit County OVI Task Force- scheduled Stow officers for OVI (Operating a Vehicle Under the influence) enforcement overtime patrols and OVI Checkpoints; tracked enforcement numbers and the use of the department’s state grant money.
• Special events/details- worked with city officials to plan and staff security and traffic details for special events in the city.
January 1992 to December 2003: Patrol Officer, Stow Police Department Stow OH General patrol duties; criminal and traffic enforcement; response to all types of police calls, including service-oriented, crimes in progress, and reporting/investigating of criminal matters.
