General Synopsis:

I have experience in a wide range of skills. I’ve worked in lawn care intermittently since I was 13, I’ve painted since I was 15 and I joined the food industry at the age of 19. I’ve studied and worked in the agriculture field, I also have some mechanical and stone masonry experience.

Work History/Experience:

Lawn care: I started pushing a mower around town when I was 13 and setting up weekly schedules with people. By the time I was 15 I had a small list of clientele that I mowed for in my grandparents and my own neighborhood. In the spring/summer of 2016 I intermittently mowed with a friend using his equipment, such as a standup mower, and he taught me the proficient way to use a weed whacker as an edger.

Painting: I have been painting houses since I was 15. My grandfather taught me the correct methods of painting. It’s always been a backup vocation, ex.: As a side job at my current job (Hy-Vee) I’ve been incrementally painting my bosses house. My later experience at the diesel engine factory, Lister Petter, taught me the correct method for using an automotive paint gun.

Pizza Hut: Like I mentioned, I have experience in the food industry. I worked at pizza hut for over a year from 2011 to 2012, right out of high school. My main job was wing preparation. I left to pursue my own work such as lawn care and side work with my uncle.

Lister Petter: Lister Petter was a diesel engine factory in which we assembled, tested, painted and shipped our own American made engines. I worked there from 2013 through 2015. My main job was painting, I was in charge of the movement of engines from the test floor to the loading area. I had to make sure they were clean, tape them up, paint them in a timely manner and send them out to docking. I became proficient with a paint gun and fork lift operation. I survived every layoff the company had during my presence, until in 2015 they officially shut the plant down.

Hy-Vee: I have been working in the meat department at Hy-Vee since 2015. The responsibilities include dealing with the public in a timely and professional manner, keeping the case full, cutting/preparing meat, tearing down saw/grinder and cleaning shop with certain chemicals. Due to my work diligence Hy-Vee chose to send me to career day in Iowa in 2017, just in case I am interested in making a career with Hy-Vee.

Agriculture: Besides my college studies in sustainable agriculture I spent some time in the field. During the spring/summer of 2016 I helped a friend with his organic fertilizer operation. He had a vermiculture operation and with our worm castings we made vermicompost/tea. We then put these fertilizers in the soil of the gardens and observed the marked growth of the tomato plants in comparison to other tomato plants with different fertilizer. I also had to maintain plant health and keep an eye for pests/fungus. Plus, there was plenty of harvesting to be done. We also canned a large portion of the produce and made tomato sauce.

Education:

High school diploma from Olathe South in 2011.

Earned a certificate in sustainable agriculture from JCCC in 2017. This was through the campus farm and cooperation with local farms.

Currently working on my associates in liberal arts.

Additional comments/skills:

In good shape, no problem lifting or moving.

Quick learner, perceptive and detail oriented.

I have been singled out in nearly all my jobs due to work diligence.

Was sent to Hy-Vee career day in Iowa due to management potential.

Not unfamiliar with automotive mechanics.

Have an ear for advice/criticism.
