Canadian Red Cross Society Standard First Aid meets all Provincial, Territorial and Federal workplace legislative requirements. It also meets the requirements of CSA Standard Z1210-17 First Aid Training for the Workplace – Curriculum and Quality Management for Training Agencies
Specifically in Saskatchewan, legislation requires the following to be listed on the wall certificate: 1. Course Duration: 18-22 hours includes 14-16 hours first aid, and 4-6 hours CPR 2. Course Content includes the following:
a. Preparing for Emergencies
b. The Role of the First Aider: Legal aspects, prevention of disease transmission, responsibilities of the first aider, coping with a traumatic event, crisis intervention, shaken baby syndrome c. The Emergency Medical Services System: When and how to call EMS, interaction with EMS d. Basic Anatomy and Physiology: Body systems
e. Primary and Secondary Assessment: Recovery position, when & how to use f. Emergency Scene Management
g. Assessment and Monitoring of Basic Vital Signs
h. Respiratory Emergencies: Basic respiratory system, anatomy, management of airways, resuscitation, airway obstruction, conscious and unconscious adults, child, and infant, prevention, recognition & treatment i. Le cours de secourisme général de la Croix-Rouge canadienne répond à toutes exigences des lois provinciales, territoriales et fédérales régissant le secourisme en milieu de travail. Il est également conforme aux exigences de la norme CSA Z1210-17 First Aid Training for the Workplace — Curriculum and Quality Management for Training Agencies de l’Association canadienne de normalisation (CSA). Plus précisément en Saskatchewan, la loi exige que les éléments suivants figurent sur le certificat mural : 5. ee. Blessures à la poitrine : pneumothorax, hémothorax, volet costal, blessure pénétrante au thorax. ff. Détresse respiratoire : asthme, hyperventilation, choc anaphylactique. gg. Urgences circulatoires : anatomie de base du système circulatoire, crise cardiaque et accident vasculaire cérébral, facteurs de risque, signes et symptômes d’une crise cardiaque ou d’un accident vasculaire cérébral. hh. Réanimation cardiorespiratoire (y compris les barrières de protection) : adultes, enfants et bébés, y compris l’utilisation d’un DEA. ii. Hémorragies et blessures : contrôle des hémorragies, bandages, hémorragie grave, garrot, choc, inconscience et évanouissement. jj. Blessures aux tissus mous et blessures abdominales. kk. Blessures à la tête, à la colonne vertébrale et au bassin : immobilisation de la colonne vertébrale, blessures aux yeux, à la bouche et blessures faciales. ll. Blessures aux membres supérieurs et inférieurs (fractures). mm. Urgences médicales : diabète, épilepsie, convulsions, accouchement. nn. Blessures liées à l’environnement : évaluation et traitement des brûlures, hypothermie, urgences dues au froid et à la chaleur. oo. Évaluation et traitement de l’empoisonnement et usage impropre et abus de drogues. pp. Gestion des incidents impliquant plusieurs personnes. qq. Déplacement des blessés : manœuvres de sauvetage. rr. Compréhension et connaissance des procédures de santé et de sécurité au travail pertinentes. 7. Date d’expiration : La validité du certificat est de trois ans à partir de sa date d’émission. 8. Le certificat peut être renouvelé si le titulaire suit un cours de renouvellement avant la date d’expiration du certificat. Les cours de renouvellement servent à évaluer les connaissances et les techniques énumérées ci- dessus ainsi qu’à transmettre tout nouveau renseignement en la matière.
