Background and Credentials

I have been involved in teaching and research in the field of sustainable energy technology, solar heating, cooling and dehumidification systems since 2003. I have also about 10 years of experience in different industries as mechanical design and project management engineer. After about 20 years in research centres, I have worked at three universities in Australia and overseas as research fellow and assistant professor. I received my Masters’ degree in solar refrigeration from the University of New South Wales and a Ph.D. in solar cooling systems from the University of South Australia in 2002. I also undertook courses in atmospheric science at the University of Nevada, USA along research within the atmospheric science laboratories of the University of Nevada.

So far, I have worked on different research projects such as experimental testing and commercialization of a solar liquid desiccant air conditioner using CFD soft-wares. This was in addition to research carried out on solar water desalination projects. I also conducted experimental & numerical studies on thermal stratification in solar hot water storage tanks using finite element analysis at fluid dynamics laboratory at the University of New South Wales in 1992. In 2003, I received funding from the Environmental Protection Agency of Queensland to commercialize the solar air conditioner in collaboration with an industry partner. During this period, I have built up successful working relationship with the industry, as well as contributing considerably to learned and professional organizations. So far, I have published several refereed journal and conference papers in sustainable energy technology and energy efficient heating & cooling systems.
