Objective:

Duties include: The evaluation, & improvement of existing production methods. Coordinates with the Industry 4.0 delegate to design & have fabricated mounting fixtures to accommodate machine vision & other monitoring systems. Works in tangent with production managers, manufacturing leads & engineers along with the mechanical engineering department to assist in the development of standard work instructions & improved methods aimed to support better manufacturability & productivity.

Duties include: Performing quality assurance inspections of incoming parts, materials and components. This includes product testing, in-process inspection of secondary operations, sub-assemblies and the final inspection of finished goods in accordance to established guidelines of form, fit and finish as well as adherence to ISO 9001 & AS9100 standards to assure the consistency and accuracy of the product. Calibrates and maintains records for the most common measuring instruments used during the manufacturing and inspection processes, i.e. micrometers, vernier calipers, height gages etc. Keeps a record of all NCMR’s (pass/fail) ECN, DMR, RMA documentation and recommends a course of action to MRB personnel. Works closely with outside suppliers and internally with the materials, manufacturing and engineering departments. Duties include: The management of department operations, the scheduling and distribution of work in progress, along with determining time and costing estimates of upcoming projects. Compiles data for weekly/monthly status reports. Involved with the design, development and manufacture of small mechanisms and assemblies, first run prototypes, limited production run products, and the design and building of in-house tooling, assembly and test fixtures. Arranges engineering, materials and production support as well as the purchase of capitol equipment and tooling. Was instrumental in the department achieving VQM status, which was key to the company entering into flight critical applications.

Able to setup and operate a variety of manual and automated machine tools. Uses an assortment of manufacturing/inspection processes, the equipment and materials involved with them.

Works well independently or as part of a team. Has introduced better production methods geared towards making the products more “manufacturable” and economical to build.

Primary Duties: Prototype manufacturing, low quantity production runs.

Products Include: Precision positioning and tracking controls. Many of which are incorporated into commercial medical equipment, computer hardware, military and civil aviation applications, games and simulation. Most products are designed and built to individual customer specifications.

Presently revisiting ASQ's the "The Certified Quality Engineer Handbook" by Connie Borror & "The Six Sigma Handbook" by Thomas Pyzdek & Paul Keller
