Senior Materials Manager, Houston, TX

Managed Supply Chain for Baker Hughes factories that manufacture and distribute down-hole tools oilfield tools made from machined housings embedded electronics, mechanical sub-assemblies, and robotics. My team and I planned, sourced and procured metal bar stock (455 Alloy Steel Bar, INCONEL, Titanium). Supported low volume, long lead time and a technologically complex high mix of precision equipment. Project managed the outsourcing of electronic component procurement and PCBA assembly to improve on time delivery and quality performance.

Developed and implemented a physical storage system with related procedures for machine tools and spare parts

Outsourced direct material warehouse management to a top 3PL improving inventory accuracy and order processing velocity. Negotiated and managed a $3.2m/year contract. This successful initiative was highlighted across Baker Hughes and implemented at several other major manufacturing/distribution operations.

Managed Master Scheduling of Manufacturing, Project Management, SAP ERP, Warehouse/Shipping/Receiving (99.95% warehouse cycle count accuracy confirmed by KPMG). Warehouses were onsite and offsite/remote.

Aggressively managed premium freight usage to assure supply while controlling costs

Vice President of Manufacturing Systems, Carlsbad, CA

Integrated the ERP systems and supply chain processes for four global business entities with $4 billion in cumulative sales. Each business used their own idiosyncratic parts numbering systems and unique processes for their ERP systems. Transformed existing supply chain process which used different ERP tools onto a common standard using Oracle Release 11i.

Vice President of Procurement, Planning, Logistics & Low Volume Production Op’s, Hong Kong/Manila

Member of the executive team that started up two factories in the Philippines and one in China. Global responsibility for Vendor Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing Planning, Supply Assurance, Product Costing, Logistics/Shipping, Master Data Management, Assembly + Test and Engineering Change Control.

Negotiated industry leading pricing and supply assurance contracts in support of $1.1 billion in global sales. Favorable Purchase Price Variance was delivered each year and was cited Best in Emerson.

Established vendor selection, qualification, share assignment and performance management strategies.

Implemented a process where top performing suppliers received share increases and marginal performing suppliers were placed on a remedial audit program. Share decreases were consequences of poor performance. Suppliers that demonstrated favorable continuous improvement were rewarded accordingly.

Managed a team of senior-level Program Managers and standardized the New Product Program processes for four Power Supply business units within Emerson Network Power (Computing, Mobile, Standard Products, and Telecom).

Redesigned the New Product Introduction processes. Created a project complexity matrix based on such factors as: Technology, Manufacturing Requirements, Component Technology, Market Conditions, Risk Analysis, and Customer Strategy. Hands on management of extremely complex BOM’s and Product Structures.

Established Procurement Strategy for New Product Introductions. Ensured each product embraced the preferred supplier strategy and qualified sufficient alternative components (Semiconductor, Passive/Electronic/Electrical components and Mechanical devices) to ensure supply while maintaining competitive tension across suppliers, enhancing negotiation leverage.

Plant Shutdown & Startup. Shut down a plant in Romania and concurrently started up a

new plant in Zhongshan, China for the transferred products. This was the result of the

acquisition of Emerson’s largest competitor (Artesyn Power).

Assembly + Test of prototype power supplies and chargers used in personal computing, network servers, and mobile communications.

MOTOROLA IL (1 year project contract with Motorola)

Senior Director of Supply Chain Systems, Schaumburg, IL

Project Director of team charged to redesign and turn around the supply chain for the Motorola Solutions business unit. Implemented Oracle R12 globally, eliminating over 200 redundant systems sub-systems.

Optimized & standardized supply chain operating processes for Europe, Asia, North America operations.

Assembled and led a team of senior executive Subject Matter Experts.

Mapped global practices related to Sourcing, Procurement, Inventory, Logistics, Warehousing, Demand Management, Bills of Material, Master Data and Executive Reporting. Produced a current state analysis.
