I was responsible for teaching the importance of offshore safety and survival. I would ensure my students are competent by administering test, and demonstrating the exercise to be preformed. Some exercise consisted of survival at sea to donning the appropriate survival equipment. Students learned how to properly and safely exit a helicopter that has landed on ground water/ partially submerged and fully capsized.
