Responsibilities:

Structural Designing:

Develop an understanding of the project by reviewing project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents (Design Basis Report, Geotechnical Information Report, etc.)

Developing structural design concepts and solutions for various projects. This involves analyzing project requirements, specifications, and codes, and creating preliminary designs.

Perform structural analysis using software tools (such as Staad Pro and Microsoft Excel) and engineering principles to ensure the integrity, safety, and stability of structures. This includes calculating loads, stresses, and deflections, and verifying compliance with relevant design codes and standards.

Designing structural components using Excel spreadsheets (made on the bases of codes, provisions, and design checks) and structural analysis output.

Supervising the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, plans, and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Checking the engineering drawings for proper presentation, clarity, and accuracy.

Organizing and maintaining project documentation and drawings.

Perform quantity take-offs by analysing drawings and specifications to determine the quantities of materials, labour, and equipment required for a project. This involves accurately measuring and quantifying various project components and using structural designing concepts.

Assist in preparing cost estimates by calculating the costs associated with labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. This includes researching and obtaining pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors.

Conducting site visits to verify the location and span of structures.

Assist in the preparation of bid proposals by organizing cost estimates, creating pricing breakdowns, and ensuring all necessary documentation is included. Collaborate with senior estimators to develop competitive and accurate bids.

Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes, clarify project requirements, and gather information necessary for the estimation process.

Update and maintain a cost database by incorporating new pricing information, labour rates, and material costs. This helps in improving the accuracy and efficiency of future estimates.

Utilize construction estimation software and tools effectively to assist in performing take-offs, calculations, and creating cost estimates.

Assist in organizing and maintaining project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Prepare reports and presentations as required for management or client review.

Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, material costs, and market conditions. Attend training sessions, seminars, and workshops to enhance your knowledge and skills in construction estimation.

The terrain is mostly plain and rolling.
