Led the search and selection process for the adoption of EPIC to replace an aging Meditech electronic HCIS. This provided the foundation for the digital transformation of clinical service lines. Chief Information Security Officer Hendrick Health Abilene, TX 2021-Present

I was hired to drive the information security program within the organization. I had discussions with the organization before this role was created due to a major data breach they had experienced, and the acquisition of two additional hospitals. I created numerous documentation in our response to the OCR and was able to avoid any additional recommendations. I developed and presented strategic planning, in addition to vendor contract creation and negotiation. I am directing a team in implementation and management of SIEM, EDR, NDR/XDR, MFA, IDS/IPS, WAF, Email Security, DLP, asset management, network vulnerability scanning, secure remote access for employees and vendors, NAC, IAM, and other solutions including employee training via KnowBe4 to provide a comprehensive security posture. I have a dual role in also leading the endpoint management teams including service desk, desktop management, mobile device management, remote access employees and vendors, including VDI and Single Sign-On. I review all organizational contracts for the appropriate language necessary to meet HIPAA regulatory requirements including security compliance with the Hitech Act in addition to the NIST framework.

CIO & Chief Information Security Officer Central Peninsula Hospital Soldotna, AK 2013-2020

Aligned information services with the strategic direction of the organization to help position the hospital as a regional center for healthcare. Managed technology in support of regulatory requirements for meaningful use and optimized data and system redundancy to enable business continuance through on premises and hybrid configurations. Partnered directly with the CEO, administration, board of directors, and the Kenai Peninsula Borough to meet short- and long-term technology needs.

Led initiatives to promote physician collaboration through the consolidation of clinical websites, single sign-on, thin client (VDI), and mobility services including a robust VM/EMC/Microsoft infrastructure, and organization wide security program.

Directed the sourcing and selection and RFP process for the organization in choosing a fully-integrated HCIS system.

Drove large-scale growth as the health system expanded from two hospitals to five. Led team in supporting four major medical centers with 2,000 total beds. Administered budget, design, and coordination of multiple simultaneous construction projects and led the implementation of multiple new technologies required to support all clinical and business applications.

Led team in building a new hospital in addition to merging employees and systems from another hospital system acquisition into the existing enterprise. Designed, managed, and constructed multiple data centers.

Implemented Cisco VOIP wired and wireless phones using a Call Manager publisher and subscriber configuration for redundancy in order to complement a Nortel CS1000 primary TDM based phone system.

Leveraged Connexall, Extension, and Responder 5 technologies to optimize nurse call systems and adopted Meditech for bedside medication via wireless carts and bar code readers.

Managed the upgrade from an autonomous access point wireless system to a controller based centrally managed WCS system with MSE location tracking. Also, implemented Tandberg video conferencing for audio/visual requirements.
