Candidates residing in the following locations/areas falling within the Geographical Jurisdiction of Southern Railway alone are eligible to apply.

न ट / NOTE:

i) This notification is purely for giving Apprenticeship training and not for employment. There is NO GUARANTEE OF EMPLOYMENT and the contract of apprenticeship will be terminated on completion training. However, 20% of the vacancies in case of Direct recruitment to post in Level 1 may be filled giving preference to Course completed act apprentices (CCAAs) trained in railway establishments and possessing National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).

ii) All communication from Carriage Works, Perambur will be sent through SMS or e-mail only. All SMS communications will be through National Informatics Centre with display ID-

iii) Candidates are advised to provide their active mobile number and valid e-mail ID in ONLNE application and keep them active throughout the selection process. All the communications sent through the aforesaid modes will be treated as deemed to have been read by the applicants. 2. Standard of Physical Fitness/Medical Examination: Candidates shall be eligible for the engagement as act apprentice, duly satisfying the minimum standards of physical fitness specified in Schedule-II of Apprenticeship Rules 1992 (as amended time to time) and Medical certificate in the prescribed format to be produced at the time of document verification.

The Medical certificates should be signed by Government Authorized Doctor (Gaz.) not below the rank of Asst.Surgeon of Central/State Government Hospital in terms Railway Board's letter no E(MPP)/2009/6/14 dated 04.12.2018. 2.1: बᱶचम कᭅ ᳰद य ंग उ म दव र कᳱ य यत /Eligibility of Person with Benchmark Disability Candidates:

4% of Apprentices to be trained are reserved for person with disability under the following physical standards as per the provisions of Schedule-II of Apprenticeship Rules 1992 and Railway Boards letter No.E(MPP)2003/6/14 Dated: 09/12/2003. I) LOW VISION (LV) : The standards of fitness specified for item (3) relating to “Eyes” in schedule II of Apprenticeship Rules shall not apply in the case of a person with low vision Low vision means a person with impairment of vision of less than 6/18 to 6/10 with best correction in the better eye or impairment of field in any one of the following categories : i) Reduction of fields less than 50 degrees, ii) Heminaopia with macular involvement, iii) Altitudinal defect involving lower fields.

II) HEARING IMPAIRMENT (HH): The standards of fitness specified for item (4) relating to

"EARS" and item (6) relating to “SPEECH" in schedule II of Apprenticeship Rules 1992 shall not apply in the case of a person who is Deaf or Dumb or Deaf and Dumb. III) ORTHOPEDICALLY HANDICAPPED (OH): The standards of fitness specified for item (11) in schedule II of Apprenticeship Rules 1992 relating to “skeletal system” will be relaxed in the case of an orthopedically handicapped person.

2. 1.b. Disability Certificates:

Candidate’s who wants to avail the benefits of reservation would have to submit disability certificate issued by the Competent Authority (i.e Medical Board constituted by the Central or State Government). The disability of the candidates should not be less than 40%.

In respect of Ex.ITI candidates, rebate in the duration of training will be given as per the Schedule-I of Apprentices Rules 1992, as amended time to time. 5. वृ ᱫक कᳱ दर / RATE OF STIPEND:

(i) During the second year of apprenticeship training, there shall be an increase of 10 per cent in the prescribed minimum stipend amount and further 15 per cent increase in the prescribed minimum stipend amount during the third year of apprenticeship training.

(ii) In the case of National or State Certificate holder, the period of training already undergone by him or her in a school or other institution recognized by the National council or state council, shall be taken into account for the purpose of determining the minimum payable rate of stipend. 6. आयु स म / AGE LIMIT (as on date of notification): i) The candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should NOT have completed 22/24 years for Freshers/Ex-ITI, MLT respectively. ii) The Upper age is relaxable upto 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 Years for Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD). a. Candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation of SC/ST, must produce his/her Caste Certificate issued by appropriate authority at the time of Document Verification. Similarly the candidates, who want to avail the benefit of reservation of OBC, must produce OBC with Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by appropriate authority valid for the current year and also Self-Declaration form regarding current status of Non-Creamy Layer at the time of Document Verification. Otherwise they will be considered as ‘UR’ only, with age limit pertaining to UR b. Candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation must produce a Disability certificate issued by Competent Authority (i.e Medical Board constituted by the Central or State Government). The disability of the candidates should not be less than 40%.

7. एंगेजमᱶट क तर क / MODE OF ENGAGEMENT:

The selection will be on the basis of Merit List prepared in respect of all the eligible candidates who apply against the Notification. The Merit List will be prepared by the Committee nominated for this purpose by following the procedure mentioned as under: a) Fresher Category :- Marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted for 200 and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in Matriculation.

b) Ex.ITI :- Marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted to 100 marks ( duly ensuring Minimum 50% marks in aggregate) + ITI marks duly converted to 100. Total marks put together will be calculated for 200 marks and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks giving equal weight age to both. c) MLT :- Marks obtained in Higher Secondary (with Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology) will be converted for 200 and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in Matriculation. For candidates possessing Xth through General Education Department, Government of Kerala the grades are classified on nine-point scale. Administration will take midpoint of range of grades obtained by the candidates. After obtaining midpoints of all the attempted subjects according to grades awarded, percentage will be calculated treating each subject is out of 100 marks as there is no standard method or multiplying factor for calculation of average of matriculation for such Boards. d) For SC/ST and PwBD ( PH quota) candidates the minimum percentage of 50% marks in aggregate in Matriculation is not insisted upon)

e) In case of two candidates having the same marks, the older candidate will be preferred. In case the dates of birth are also same, then the candidate who has passed Matriculation Examination earlier will be considered. f) Original transfer certificate for completion of qualifying examination (Std. X/XII/ITI) must be produced during document verification. 8. से सग शु क / PROCESSING FEE (Non-Refundable) Rs.100/-. Fee is to be paid through ONLINE MODE. Ne fee is required to be paid by SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates.

Candidates are advised to take a printout of the acknowledgement generated by the system which is required to be submitted at the time of Document Verification. 9. एंगेजमᱶट व कंᮝ ट / ENGAGEMENT & CONTRACT:

The selected candidates shall be engaged in the unit of their choice subject to the extent of vacancies and they may have to engage in other units coming under the jurisdiction if so warranted by the administrative requirement.

The selected ITI/Non-ITI (Fresher’s) candidates have to execute a contract of apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act-1961 and if such, candidates are minor; his Guardian can execute the prescribed contract as per the guidelines of Regional Director of Apprenticeship Training, Guindy, Chennai.

Note: (i) Candidates selected for training will not be allowed to withdraw from training except for reasons, which are beyond their control. Before commencement of the training, the candidates have to execute a contract of Apprenticeship.

(ii) Those who willfully absent themselves are liable to refund the whole cost of their training as well as the amount paid as stipend as determined by the Central Apprenticeship Adviser.

(iii) If any declaration furnished by the candidate is found to be false, he/she will be disqualified/terminated at any stage of the training period without any notice.

10. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. The decision of the Railway administration in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of the applications and mode of selection shall be final. File No.SR-HQ0MECH(WS)/868/2022-PB-REC

2. There is NO GUARANTEE FOR EMPLOYMENT and their contract of apprenticeship will be terminated on completion training on completion of training. However, 20% of the vacancies in case of Direct recruitment through RRC’s may be filled giving preference to course completed act apprentices trained in railway establishments and possessing National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).

3. If any declaration furnished by the candidate is found to be false, he/she will be disqualified/terminated at any stage of the training period without any notice. 4. The selected candidates will not be given any Hostel Accommodation (or any other facility). They will have to make their own arrangements for their stay during the training period

5. Academic/Technical qualifications acquired through recognized Boards/Institutes will only be considered.

6. Candidates applying for Ex.ITI category should possess ITI qualification in the relevant trade at the time of applying itself.

7. The selected candidates should abide by the rules and regulations framed by the Administration from time to time.
