Ms. Michelle McAfee was employed by the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, in Springfield, IL from approximately April, 1998 to May 2008. As her immediate supervisor since 2000, she voluntarily ended her employment with the reason given of having to travel out-of-town for the job which was making it difficult to raise her infant son. With rare exception, she was a diligent, astute, considerate and respectful employee who willingly assumed tasks assigned her while actively employed with the agency.

Michelle McAfee was employed as a Wage and Hour Investigator from April 1998 until May 2008. During this time period, Michelle and I had the opportunity to work closely together on assignments. Michelle was easy to get along with, had a good rapport with her co-workers and the public, and made work seem fun with her great sense of humor. Over the course of her 10 years of employment with our agency, Michelle took on challenging tasks and special projects that others often shied away from. Whenever Michelle assisted me in the field on special assignments, she worked very hard to make sure we were able to accomplish what we needed to before returning to the office and was very reliable. When given a choice, I often selected Michelle to assist me on investigations or other special projects because I knew I could count on her to assist me fully and properly with anything I needed. She is quick to learn, is good with numbers, and writes well. Michelle is smart, kind, and eager to please. Michelle voluntarily terminated her employment in May 2008. During her exit interview, she noted that overnight travel was making it too difficult for her to raise her young son. Many of us here still miss her and the qualities she brought to our office. Please consider Michelle for employment with your firm.
