ADVERTEL, INC. Founder & President

Since 1994, Advertel achieved national recognition in the telecommunications industry as the only marketing agency to effectively elevate the telephone to broadcast media standards, establishing the widely accepted “TeleBranding” criteria.

Responsible for literally thousands of telephone “media” applications throughout North America, from

“Home Buyers Hotline” and “FeedBax,” to “ADS-ON-HOLD,” Similar to broadcast media’s Arbitron (ARB,) Beran authored the “Holdtime Analysis (HTA),” the only telephone audience measurement tool, calculating Cume, Reach, Frequency, and Cost-per-thousand (CPM.) In part to Beran’s highly regarded HTA analysis, Beran negotiated multi-year contracts with such major corporations as: British Airways, Bank One, Weyerhaeuser, Matthews International, IBM, Sharp America, Parts Plus, and many more. Beran also successfully licensed exclusive content with major talent: Mannheim Steamroller, Peanuts® Gang, Bing Crosby Enterprises, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood characters, Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn., and others.

Beran got an early start in media, starting as a Pittsburgh radio disc jockey at the precocious age of 16

(airshift: 6pm to midnight, 5 nights/week), while simultaneously attending local high school and college classes at University of Pittsburgh.

Politically active since 1973, Beran became spokesperson for the Democratic Committee of Allegheny County, serving as Master of Ceremonies for polling nights and major political events through the 1980’s. RECOGNITION

2012 BEST OF BUSINESS AWARD Under Beran’s direction, Advertel, Inc. was selected for 2012 Best of Business Award for its innovative “Solemnity Marketing Services,” in support of the death-care industry, and 30-years in support of the telephone industry.

2004 COMMUNICATOR AWARD Won national recognition for its creative telephone auto-attendant for a nationwide chain of amusement waterpark resorts.

2002 PITTSBURGH CATHOLIC DIOCESE SEXUAL MISCONDUCT TASKFORCE Served on Cardinal Donald Weurl’s lay/clergy taskforce to develop the official diocesan response to the clergy sexual misconduct controversy.

1995 NATIONAL AWARDS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN MultiMedia Telecommunications Association (MMTA), successor to North American Telecommincations Assn (NATA,) named Beran committee chairman to oversee national awards program.

White House Business Council (2013-2014) Participated in President Obama’s Business Council of Entrepreneurs, assisting in the formation of government policy, Obama Care, responses to national crises, and other important issues of the day.

PA Assn of Mfg’rs Reps (PAMR) (1980-1986) Elected 3-year Board Member of this prestigious organization of major food suppliers to the tri-state region. Also, membership chairman, 5-yrs. Network of Ministers to Separated & Divorced (1994-2004) Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Group Facilitator/Event Chairperson, Nominating and Leadership Training Committee Chairman and member of the Communications Committee, offering counseling, guidance and recreational activities of individuals undergoing the trauma of separation, divorce, and the children of single-parent families. For three consecutive years, Beran served as Executive Chairman for the Annual Day of Enrichment, a well attended annual event, sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, dedicated to the support of separated and divorced individuals.

Regional Manager/Foreign Exchange Student Program (2011-2019) Responsible for connecting and managing F-1 visa students with area private high schools and host families. Also, “host” father to multiple South Korean and Chinese high school age students since July, 2011. POLITICALLY ACTIVE Hosted five (5) multi-candidate Meet & Greet fund-raiser events at Beran’s Alexandria home since July, 2021 with nearly 100 attendees. Provided flagship vehicle at three (3) candidate car rally/parades. Regularly participates with “America First Policy Institute,” “Leadership Institute,” and Fairfax GOP events.
