Grant Manager/ Data Analyst, The Chris Atwood Foundation

(Reston, Virginia) - March 2019- September 2023 - Website: https://www.thecaf.org/ About the organization: The CAF is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that creates recovery ready communities through free harm reduction and recovery support services, resources, and education.

● 3rd employee to join with only two grants at the time, and just one program, REVIVE!, which trained local people how to administer naloxone/ Narcan, the opioid overdose reversal drug, and distributed it cost-free. By the time of planned departure, The CAF had over 19 employees, 16 different grants, and an almost two million dollar yearly budget, along with many diverse programs

● Received the first and only award given to a staff member at our yearly gala & largest fundraiser. The CAF created “The Clark Kent Award” for work done “behind the scenes” to make the organization & receive funding needed to operate a growing list of programs and staff. Also, for problem solving, work ethic, & contributions to new programs. Other awardees were Roger Krone, CEO of Leidos, and The Sheriff of Fairfax County, Sheriff Stacey Ann Kincaid.

● Created online Overdose Reversal Kit Distribution Program, which has resulted in over 700 lives saved by cost-free online ordering & mail delivery. During this time, The CAF mailed over 5K Overdose Reversal Kits to people in 132 of 133 Virginia Counties & Independent Cities

● Created system for managing The CAF’s Finances, Monthly Financial Grant Reports, Grant Invoices, and Quarterly Grant Outcome Reports in MS Excel and Quickbooks

● Utilized MS Excel to create tracking sheets for each grant to efficiently assign expenditures monthly & to allow a user-friendly up to date financial picture of what funding is remaining per line item and category. This helps The CAF plan for future expenditures & see more clearly what areas need funding when applying for new grants or making financial asks

● Each month, created and submitted The CAF’s monthly Financial Grant Reports & corresponding monthly Grant Invoices on time according to varying due dates. Each grant and funder has their own format & requirements for reporting.

● Utilized MS Excel and other forms of programmatic data management such as Charity Tracker and Redcap to collect & store data in a manner that both collected & stored all necessary data required by funders & made the data easy to manipulate for reporting purposes

● Quarterly, created and submitted Programmatic Outcome Grant Reports alongside monthly financial reports. Also, created & submitted mid-term/ final reports

● Managed & calculated data to present successes numerically to current & potential donors, current & potential grantees, and during advertising, drives, & events

● Assisted in setting up new programs including Northern Virginia’s first Comprehensive Harm Reduction Program, Revive 2 Thrive, where The CAF offers mobile harm reduction services and peer counseling to those battling substance use disorder

● Helped lobby the state to change laws increasing access to naloxone/ Narcan, and spoke before the state house of representatives. The bill was passed and signed into law

● Managed both the housing scholarship & mail-based naloxone distribution programs
