Responsibilities:

Working solo, with a peer or under supervision of facilities electricians to perform preventative maintenance on emergency lighting and exit signs. Replace lights and repair lighting circuits. Replace switches and outlet. Convert fluorescent lighting to LED. Assist in the installation of new electrical circuits which includes running conduit (EMT, Rigid, Flex, Seal Tight, PVC, and MC) along walls, fencing, in ceilings, on roofs, and underground; installing j-boxes, outlet boxes, and disconnects; and pulling wire to complete the circuits. Assist in the replacement of circuit breakers and equipment disconnects.

Skills:

Knowledge and usage of hand tools including bubble and laser levels, Flat head and Phillips head screwdrivers, Alan keys, star and square head screwdriver attachment heads, wire strippers, diagonal cutters, tin snips, lineman’s pliers, needle nose pliers, channel lock wrenches, crescent wrenches, adjustable strap wrenches, socket wrenches, fish tape, trenching shovels, spade shovels, conduit benders, hand saws, hammers (ball pin, claw, rubber mallet, and sledge) pick ax, adze and ground breaking bar. Knowledge and usage of multimeters, receptacle outlet testers, and voltage detector pens. Following the three step process used every time to test on a known live circuit, test the circuit to be worked on, then test on a known live circuit. Knowledge and usage of power tools including impact drivers, drills, sawzalls, angle cutters, band saws, circular saws, and jig saws.

Knowledge of Conduit Installation.
