General Manager of KTRU-FM and the staff adviser of RTV-5 (1999-2017), the Rice Cable Television station. In these capacities, I worked with culturally diverse volunteers and supervised employees. Responsible for staff management, station operations, leadership development as well as financial and legal matters. Instituted a variety of new partnerships between KTRU and RTV with other university units, student organizations, faculty, staff, and administrators. Completely rebuilt the studios, installed automation to enable unattended operations, added an FM translator, LPFM, HD-2, webcasting, satellite programming, and the widespread use of computers and technology.

Provided executive leadership and management to a national nonprofit organization focused on advancement and advocacy for student-run electronic media outlets. Worked with students, advisers, faculty, and industry professionals to bring them together for education, pre-professional development, and potential employment via social media, collaboration groups, and national conferences. Reported monthly to the board of directors about organizational activities, membership needs, industry trends, and challenges. Successfully led efforts to shape regulations for webcasting rates and terms for noncommercial educational outlets from 2002 through 2020. Launched in 2012 the National Student Electronic Media Convention, which sold out for the inaugural year and has grown steadily since. Responsible for planning and executing all elements of the national conventions. Secured a record number of convention sessions in 2017, offering over 100 panels and interactive sessions.

Curated sessions for two annual conventions concerning student media and careers in electronic media at various locations across the country. Speakers included local and nationally prominent professionals in radio, TV, and regulatory agencies. Coordinated the change in venue from New Orleans to Kansas City for broadcast sessions in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

I led the organization from a fledgling newcomer to an important voice and player in the media world. Launched the CBI website and developed the content that is the most comprehensive resource for college media available. Secured significant media mentions about CBI, representing the organization in USA Today, NY Times, and LA Times, among others. I created newsletter for member stations with a circulation to more than 1,000 student media outlets across the nation.

In addition, functioned as Chief Fiscal Officer for the Campus Media Center, Planned, budgeted, purchased and rebuilt studios from scratch, Coordinated FCC Proceedings for a New FM Station, established a shared PEG Cable Access Facility, and Proposed, Developed, and Implemented Internship Program. On-Air Host and Producer.
