PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Workspace Design Project Leader, UK Government Estate Transformation Program, July 2020 to June 2023

Reporting to the Head of Workspace Design, I successfully led a team of project managers who were responsible for the day to day management of each project. Additionally I managed more complex larger projects as well as being the subject matter expert for the UK Government in relation to inclusive workspace design.

Within this role some of my key achievements were:

●Supporting the development of future workplace strategy ensuring the UK Government achieved budgetary savings required to support the transformation program

●Identifying areas of change within various business unit processes

●Researching the industry trends to ensure the projects delivered to a high quality and were future-proofed

●Developing and maintaining a suite of standards document to support UK Governments future projects

●Developing and delivering a program of compliance audits for each project within the program

●Providing direction and advice to a team of supporting Workspace Design Managers across all projects ensuring ongoing development of the team

●Engaging with senior stakeholders, Government ministers, consultants, trade unions, contractors and experts from across UK Government

●I regularly spoke at industry events to promote the great work that I have been doing over the last 5 years. This year I had the privilege of being asked to be a judge at the Mix Interiors design awards which was a great honor.

I successfully delivered six award winning buildings on time and within budget but, equally as important, to a high quality whilst in this role. I also ensured that future projects and changes can be delivered within a structured framework which will ultimately lead to further savings for the UK Government Estate.

I left this role to relocate to Houston with my husband.

Senior Workspace Design Project Manager, UK Government Estate Transformation Program, February 2017 to July 2020

Reporting to the Project Leader, my role was to manage the workspace designs for multiple regional new build offices across the UK and Northern Ireland, whilst working with various stakeholders of all levels. I was flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment, whilst being the link between building users and Programme stakeholders to ensure the vision of the programme was always championed, creating great places for people to work.

I was responsible for:

●gathering business requirements, creating robust project briefs and agreeing these with senior leaders

●ensuring concept and developed design milestones were met and keeping all stakeholders, including senior government ministers, aware of changes to design and how these align to the programme objectives

●monitoring delivery and ensuring that the required quality was met across the whole project lifecycle

●liaising with and advising, challenging and directing professional designers/architects on layouts, requirements and quality finishes

●evaluating tender submissions to ensure quality and value for money

●Identifying on-going improvements to both the design ethos and ways of working within the programme.

I left this role on promotion to Project Leader within the team.

Change and Transformation Manager, Clydesdale Bank, Customer Banking Enablement, Glasgow, April 2014 to July 2016

I was responsible for identifying, delivering and embedding change projects, often several projects concurrently. These included continuous improvement suggestions from business units and senior leaders as well as those I was able to identify and have agreed by senior leaders. Ultimately the goal was to ensure an enhanced customer experience across the Bank and increase productivity, customer satisfaction and overall profit for the organization, as well as identify any potential compliance risks, all within our agreed project governance structure.

Working with a wide range of stakeholders and teams, I was responsible for delivering change to introduce lending products to support onshore wind farms, international payment technology, and the introduction of a new employee learning process, and supporting technology and delivery team. I also undertook a review of the asset finance business unit, covering people, process, product and compliance which resulted in a restructure of the entire delivery route for this finance product.

Prior to joining the project team I had spent over 15 years working in customer facing roles within the Bank branches and had experience at all levels from counter teller through to mortgage adviser and ultimately branch manager therefore I have a sound basis in financial analysis as well as problem solving.

I left Clydesdale Bank under voluntary redundancy during a business restructure and took the opportunity to enhance my project management skills by undertaking Prince 2 Practitioner certification before deciding on my next challenge.
