For the last eighteen years my primary occupation has been that of a full-time mother of three. I have donated the majority of my spare time in charitable pursuits, serving on the boards of local community organizations, and in having a successful Coton de Tulear breeding program. My educational and professional pursuits were put aside in service to my family and in support to my husband in our family business. It has been my great privilege to raise my children, but they are now off to college. I am at a point where I have much more freedom to actively pursue professional goals of my own. In 2021 I returned to college. I had completed the majority of credits needed toward a major in Political Science and Public Administration during my first run in the 1990’s, but unplanned motherhood got in the way of my degree completion. This time around, the age of my credits made anything within my major obsolete, so I decided to switch gears and work toward a degree in Public Relations, which I have done a tremendous amount of work in within the dog fancy, community organizations, political campaigns, and promoting my own small businesses.
Before returning to college, my last big pre-Covid endeavor was running my own small home renovation company. I was hands on in every step of the process from financing and purchase of property to its sale. I pulled permits, hired subcontractors, purchased materials, designed rooms, created floor plans. I also did my own accounting, payroll and marketing. I was on the job site daily supervising and supporting my crew. The results were the two highest price per square foot homes sold in the area. I loved the challenge, flexibility, and creative outlet my projects afforded me, but the market has changed. I feel that it is time to return to a more traditional workplace environment and resume a potential career path that has an opportunity for professional growth and new learning experiences. I bring creative energy, coupled with mature wisdom with me in every endeavor I pursue. I have done everything from being room mother to supporting the president of a regional retail chain. I have been covered in drywall dust while helping demo a wall and I have organized black tie events. I have stayed up all night with a puppy who was failing to thrive, and years later flown to London to take that puppy as an adult to compete in the most prestigious dog show in the world. I have written articles for regional and trade magazines. I have stepped in front large crowds and given speeches as well as in front of cameras on local and national television. I have worked with tradesman and Ivy League graduates. I have led a team and been a worker bee. My motto is “I can’t never could.” I am capable, articulate, and organized. I look forward to seeing how I can use my talents to serve you.
