Engineering Advisor, Downingtown Senior West High School 9/2016 – 5/2023
Downingtown Area School District, Downingtown, PA 19335
Engineering Design and Development, AP Calculus, AP Physics
Led research topics in Radio Frequency (RF) Signal Transmissions Quality
Conducted virtual sessions due to Covid-19 Pandemic, Part-time faculty
Retail Sales, Department Head [Early retirement.] 5/2004 – 3/2020
Home Depot, HH Gregg and Lowes, all in Downingtown Area
Based on my design engineering experience from General Electric’s Major Appliance Park, Louisville, KY I shared key product knowledge in features and benefits of each of the showroom displays with customer family members. How to trouble shoot and root cause repair concepts resulted many research projects by teachers. I enjoyed client motivation to people who were continuously interested in electric product design, that led to further sales for many other related departments.
I have accomplished the highest volume sales of Credit Card and Extended Service Warranty.
I recommended safety compliance, energy saving, smart home heating systems and security cameras. I advised on the government energy tax credit and pertinent consumer incentives. I coordinated programs for commercial clients with PECO for power delivery. I was rated in the highest 1% for individual by annual sales for Mid-Atlantic Region of Home Depot.
Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, Exton, PA
1/1996 – 1/2004
Director of Standards
I initiated Due Process for software development, recommended criteria for computer and telecom 3-D implementation. I generated digital specifications for voice, video and data. We defined radio frequency interface, baseline privacy interface and operation service system, set-top boxes for digital video and audio signal transport, network architecture, and renewable security system for standard and high-definition television and digital program insertion for military and commercial industry. Advised Emergency Alert Systems of FCC and FEMA broadcasting and assisted Homeland Security standards panel. Led training in fiber optics, telephone and computer networking cable and wireless communications. I served as principal in National Electrical Safety Council for NESC aerial and underground cabling over 10-years and timely updated NEC/local electrical code to consumer groups.
General Electric Power Generation, Schenectady, NY
01/73 -10/1995
Manufacturing Engineering Manager
I led mechanical and electrical engineers for cable television signal networking for 1 GHz amplifiers, line extenders and status monitoring transponder design. Products include hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) end-to-end outside and indoor plant hardware, software for bandwidths research resulted advanced RFI/EMI enclosure shielding over 100 dB through Cu clad steel mesh and proven center seizure application for digital and analog in voice, video and data signal transmissions beyond GHz and heat reduction. I implemented surface mounting technology with heat reductions in fine-pitch assembly.
From design engineering to prototype for new production process from design to testing printed circuit assemblies through front-end-engineering design to automation and vision inspection stations for ISDN production. We achieved 17,000-pin BP product at 3-sigma quality within the first pass yield, we built 14 self-designed automatic pin insertion stations with camera adjusted quality assurance. I led electronics CAD/CAM for CEA design applications, was certified in DFMA.
My key concentration was in methods and tools development for metals removal in bucket (fan blade) manufacturing processes for the steam path in steam turbine and generator productions. Specialized in rough and finish machining, polish and product inspection by red dye and x-ray methods. I served as manufacturing process consultant for Major Appliances in Louisville, KY with robotics assembly and kinematics applications. I coordinated state and local government inspections for permit renewal on air, noise, wastewater, industrial waste disposal and hazardous material storage. I drafted Environmental Statement for landfill, waste treatment, and Clean Air Act compliance for EPA applications. I assisted legal counsel in Super Fund document preparation. I used statistical process control to optimize automated manufacturing process waste records. I served as the Chemical and Safety Engineer for all manufacturing plant sites in New York and New England states for turbine and generators. I completed the 2-year MMP management training and graduated with honor from GE corporate management programs in top 10% of the graduating class.
