Profile

Eager to get back into the world of helping people, doing customer service in any way with my massive backgrounds in "legal-ees," managerial, salespersonship, financial, organizational, employee relations, restaurant and bar knowledge and management for almost any position.

As I have just moved to the Washington area and I would like to keep myself busy and meet new people, I am currently working part-time as a cashier for a national retail chain. I started doing this since my licensure for court reporting is not valid in Washington, but I find that part-time is not enough to keep me busy, so I would really prefer to find a full-time position.

Over 25 years as a licensed Freelance Certified Court Reporter in Michigan (CSR) taking machine shorthand depositions, County Hall Meetings, City Hall Meetings, court hearings, medical malpractice depositions and auto accident depositions, employee dispute depositions, to name a few. This was done in person and through Zoom and other media.

Over one year in a partnership in a restaurant and bar which offered country music on one floor and rock and roll on the other, as well as food service on both floors, and, of course, there was a full bar on both floors.

Restaurant manager of Dimitri’s of Southfield for over four years, which was one of the top ten restaurants in the Detroit Suburbs at the time. I managed the entire restaurant except for the actual cooking of the food, although I would step in from time to time when there was a shortage of staff. I took care of the entire office including daily receipts, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, ordering equipment and laundry, liquor sales and ordering, total employee management except for chefs. Much, much more.

Sole proprietor, The Gold Bar and Pam’s Pick-A-Pearl and Miss Pam, Inc. (simultaneously and, also, while managing Dimitri’s), had employees running it for approximately 15 years. These were in several locations. At one point, there were about seven locations with both stores running in them. I was well versed in employee management, inventory control, advertising, banking and emergency situations, all functions of retail operation.

Certifications

CSR, Certified Shorthand Reporter, on electronic machine at 225 words per minute in Michigan. Notary Public in Michigan until 2022. I will get one in Florida Chauffer’s driver’s license, Michigan. As soon as I can find a home to buy, I will switch to Florida.

Member of MAPCR, Michigan court reporters.

NCRA, National Court Reporters Association.

Michigan chauffer’s license.

Education

Southfield Academy of court reporting: Diploma and considered same as Associate’s degree by State of Michigan because of the grammar and medical and various other areas that you do have to become very familiar with.

Elsa Cooper Institute of Court Reporting: Levels of Theory through 180 words per minute before switching schools for convenience.

University Of Michigan, University of Detroit, Oakland University, all of which I took various courses in computer programming, management, mathematics and English, including grammar skills. Unfortunately, I never got my bachelor’s degree, but I did carry a 3.96 as far as I went in the colleges I did attend.
