SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Content Delivery Expertise: At dss+ many of the contracts required delivery of content via a specific but outdated legacy and expensive to maintain Learning Management System (LMS). This was due primarily to interface and firewall issues put in place by various countries regarding digital workflows. Researched workflow methodologies focusing on client needs and various national laws on digital workflow. Once hurdles were identified selected a vendor with expertise in eLearning content delivery and worked with Legal and IT teams to address any contractual issues. This approach created workflow efficiencies and established common global practices. Costs are being reduced by 60% and headcount reduced by up to 70%.

Global Distribution/Go-to-Market: SonyLiv, Sony’s Indian based business utilized an internet-based platform to delivery live channels and sporting events to India. After the launch of Sony-ESPN, SonyLiv could not use its platform to show ESPN product. In addition, SonyLiv was not effectively utilizing its digital rights to distribute sporting events live or with a timed delay. Worked with a systems integration partner and designed a solution to manage both streaming live content as well as virtual applications to edit both clean and branded. Provided SonyLiv the technical backbone to become a global over the top platform. The new platform also reduced expenses by $2.5M.

Operational Process Improvement: The dss+ Learning and Development group was a subsidiary of dss+ and had never been fully integrated into the company and even internally was siloed, particularly the production organization. Initially there were 5 project managers split between three locations who operated independently but tended to focus on production of specific types of content. Naming conventions across the silos were not consistent nor were pricing conventions. Inventory legacy assets and required that assets be combined on to a global platform. Implemented a centralized project tracking platform and replaced and reduced existing vendors. Laid off 50% of the team and integrated all three locations into a follow the sun operation. Result was a more competitively priced product plus the ability to measure ROI, NPV and IRR on projects.

Start-Up Experience: Andrita was a spinoff of Playboy Entertainment to consolidate all channel origination, production, and postproduction in one place. Playboy had tried to do this with a third party who ultimately went bankrupt. Hired to form Andrita based upon a business plan I had prepared as a consultant three years previously. Sourced new channels to augment Playboy channels, upgraded the facility into a full HD production space and integrated a tapeless all digital channel origination facility. Sold production to MYV, HBO, Showtime, AMC, Food Network, and others. Facility sold profitably and is still in existence under a different name.

Key Client Relationship Management: At Andrita, was responsible for growing the number of channels using the origination facility. Negotiated a contract with IntelSat based upon using IntelSat’s sales force to sell transponder space and drive channels to Andrita for origination. Using three transponders split existing channels across the three and established an interesting cable neighborhood to attract young networks which would benefit from the positioning. Also managed the relationship with the City of Los Angeles which involved numerous issues from parking to permits to inner city neighborhood relations.
