I was working at Camp AI Assad, Iraq. I was on a team of mechanics that was on an ASV Retro team. Our team would put on the upgraded armor and do the modifications to the vehicle as it was needed for the fragment kit. Along with adding the extra armor I was responsible for resetting the CTIS systems for these trucks. Also our team of mechanics would also have to pull the turrets off these vehicles, bore out holes in the turrets using a drill press, rethread the holes, and then reinstall the turrets on these trucks. Equipment that was used doing these tasks was a forklift, shuttle lift, grinder, computer, drill press, and your standard mechanics tools. Our mechanics were also responsible for daily cleanup of the shop area and for the inventory of all the up-armor kits as well. When that project was completed I was transferred to work in Doha, Qatar on the APS 5 contract with ITT Systems. I was working in a wheel vehicle repair shop that was doing everything from direct support to 10, 20 level maintenance. I replaced engines, transmissions, transfers, differentials, steering gear boxes, brakes, various seals and gaskets, electronic trouble shooting, repair CTIS systems, and cooling systems. I got to work in trucks ranging in different sizes from a 1 1/4 ton trucks, to 7 ton trucks, I also was working at Camp Stryker in Baghdad, Iraq. I was on a team of mechanics that was installing the upgraded fragment 5 kits on the M 1114s. Not only did the kits consist of upgraded doors but also it had an upgraded gunner's protection kit also. Our shop would work like an assembly line, first the old doors would be taken off, the B pillars, C pillars would be taken off, the necessary holes were drilled, and grinding was done. Then the truck would go to the next station for the next level of repair and so on.

This included working on engines, suspensions, transmissions, transfers, anything that was faulty on the trucks it was the mechanics job to repair them.
