December 2019 - State of Kansas, Department of Labor
January 2021 Topeka, KS
MS SQL DBA
Served as a database administrator for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance group, doing backups, copying data, writing SQL for reporting.
My group uses ETLs to copy this data to our mainframe computers which then transfer the money to the banks. The jobs themselves run procedures in T-SQL and PowerShell. For outputs, we extract the data, put it into flat files, and ftp them to the proper location. For inputs, we pick up data from dedicated directories, load the data into staging tables and update the proper tables.
Because the people that are filing for Pandemic assistance have first entered their information and applied on our mainframe system, that data is then imported to our MS-SQL system. After processing, this data is then exported back to the mainframe in order to keep a full history for each claimant.
I have also been involved with the reporting and analytics from this platform. I have created files that are then aggregated for dollar amounts and numbers of claimants and given to the governor. Also, I’ve been helping this group optimize their SQL and validate the outputs for their BI needs.
