DATA CENTER/INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

ADP (Alpharetta, GA)

As IT Infrastructure Project Manager for the build-out of a new application payroll service Data Center facility for ADP in Alpharetta, GA, I selected the subcontractors for the provisioning of the physical requirements of the new data center (e.g., data center build-out, HVAC, electrical, data cabling, equipment cabinet/racks, etc.). In addition, I selected the moving vendor and personally supervised the equipment move from a data center in Michigan down to the new location in Alpharetta, GA, to “seed” systems for the new data center. Systems for (3) production payroll clients (Fortune 100 companies) were moved. Successfully performed this over a weekend with no issues. All detailed tasks were defined in a standard “waterfall’ Project plan using MS Project.

Also, IT Infrastructure Project Manager role for the high-level systems infrastructure architecture design and implementation of ADP’s Enterprise HRMS/Payroll application in an ASP Data Center environment. This is a web-enabled Java software application, which runs in an N-tier infrastructure. The Data Center LAN/WAN/VLAN infrastructure consisted of Cisco networking systems (i.e., routers, switches, PIX firewalls, NetRanger Intrusion Detection System), EMC Symmetrix SAN with a Connectrix fabric switch, IBM xSeries Windows application servers, Sun Solaris (Unix) Oracle database servers (Sunfire E-series), and IIS web servers.

Security First Technologies (S1) (Atlanta, GA)

IT Infrastructure Project Manager: Designed, implemented, and managed, for S1 an $11M Data Center for the development and support of a client-server Internet banking application written in C++ using Informix RDBMS on IBM AIX, HP/UX and Linux Unix servers and utilizing Cisco LAN/WAN networking systems.

Data General (Norcross, GA)

Project Team Leader for the relocation of the Data General’s regional office data center systems to a new office location. This involved 20 Data General Mid-range minicomputers plus 10 high-end UNIX systems each with Clarrion RAID disk storage systems. I defined the data center floor layout in the new facility for the placement of the computer equipment and supervised the relocation activities by movers on the day the relocation took place.

DR Project Manager for a Harbor Resources client for the development of a technical DR plan for a Georgia-based casual clothing retail company with 8 store locations. The DR plan called for logistical steps to reconstruct a LAN-based POS and office retail management system at a backup location. The POS application was Microsoft Retail Management System (RMS) running under Windows NT/2000 on IBM xSeries servers with MS SQL Server databases. Each POS terminal was configured with a cash drawer, bar code reader/scanner, and a receipt printer. The main office location housed a central database and email server.

OFFICE RELOCATION PROJECTS

Pulte Group (Atlanta, GA)

IT Infrastructure Project Manager for the relocation of Pulte Group’s corporate office from Detroit to Buckhead (Atlanta). This involved implementation of the following: Audio-Visual system, VOIP phone system, multi-function copier machines, Security system, and MDF/IDF equipment rooms.

Rugby Building Products (Atlanta, GA)

IT Infrastructure Project Manager for the relocation of the corporate office of Rugby Building Products. I worked with all the service providers to successfully accomplish this move of around 30 office staff plus 4 executive level managers. This involved: cubicle layout plan, ordering furniture, planning parking space designations, transport of office materials and PC computers for the staff, relocating the computer room equipment, installation of HVAC systems, provisioning voice/data circuits and cabling, installation of the PBX phone system and the building security system.

IT Infrastructure Project Manager for Axis Capital for the following:

IT infrastructure for the Office floor consolidation project (3 floors down to 2 floors)

Vendor management for the implementation of the new Audio-Visual systems in the teleconference rooms

APPLICATION PROJECTS

Data General (Client: American National Can, Chicago, Il)

Project Manager for a client of Data General’s Professional Services division for the development and implementation of a customized Plant Control System (PCS) for American National Can, an international aluminum drink can manufacturer. Specific PCS subsystems developed: Inventory Control System, Quality Control/Quality Assurance System, and Conveyor Line Control System, which utilized analogue-to-digital real-time process data sampling. Developed detailed programming specifications and led the development team and coordinated systems testing, user acceptance, and implementation.

Rugby Building Products (Atlanta, GA)

Project Manager at Rugby Building Products for the implementation of a Warehouse Management and Inventory Control/Quality-Assurance Control system for a Building Materials Wholesale Distributor comprised of 12 branch warehouse locations. The computer system is a high-end centralized Unix server running the 4GL/RDBMS Progress-based Trend Warehouse Management and Distribution package from R&D Systems. It supports remote users via a TCP/IP network using Micom routers and multiplexors over a frame relay network.

IT PMO Project Manager at InComm for the development and implementation of pre-paid cards system (e.g., wireless, gift cards, Visa). Project tasks include project planning, task assignments and coordination, facilitating status meetings with merchants, vendors, and business partners.

AT&T Wireless (Formerly Cingular Wireless, Alpharetta, GA)

Lead Project Manager within the Cingular Wireless “Customer Care & Billing” department’s IT PMO group. Successfully managed multiple concurrent customer billing projects in accordance with SDLC guidelines and with SOX requirements using both PMI and Six Sigma principles.

IT Infrastructure Project Manager at Rugby Building Products for the evaluation, vendor selection, and implementation of a PC-based EDI/VAN order processing and invoicing system. Three vendors were considered: Advantis (IBM), Kleinschmidt, and Sterling. The Sterling Gentran system and Sterling VAN was selected and implemented.

*Data General (Client: United Airlines, Chicago, Il)

Systems Designer for a client of Data General’s Professional Services division for the development of a Document Imaging System utilizing a multi-drive Optical Disk Jukebox. The system tracked reservations billing information for a national airline. The systems environment consisted of several networked UNIX LAN-based servers. The software application was developed in C.

*Data General (Client: Texaco, Houston, TX))

Project Manager for the systems implementation team for a GIS systems integration project for a Texas-based company that was involved in an oil exploration project in South America & Central America. The system involved Document Imaging of a variety of physical paper documents that are indexed and tracked in a library database. I designed the Oracle database structure and developed schema definitions. Led the development of UNIX scripts for system implementation, release upgrades, and patch application.

Data General (Client: American National Can, Chicago, Il)

Project Manager for the conversion of a Materials Requisition Planning (MRP) application being converted from IBM CICS/COBOL using IDMS to DG Screen COBOL using DG/DBMS in a client/server environment.

TELECOMM PROJECTS

AT&T Wireless (Formerly Cingular Wireless, Alpharetta, GA)

2006: Senior Project Manager for the Cingular Wireless “Phase 1” planning and implementation of a $60M full-deployment business continuity / disaster recovery Emergency Response Program. This was done before the acquisition of Cingular Wireless by AT&T. Effectively planned the facilitation and organization of a full wireless.

Equipment deployment manager for a “hurricane emergency response” exercise conducted in Tampa, FL

2003/2004: Project Manager for the implementation of the software application “Prospect”. This application processed cellular transaction data used for data analyst to monitor communication link performance and capacity and predict future growth and determine upgrade requirements.
