Union Pacific Railroad (UP) Omaha, NE (2009 – Present)

Senior Technical Project Manager – LOUP Logistics/Human Resources (2017 – Present)

Promoted to manage the M&A transition of the LOUP-ColdConnect business unit into the UP network. This transition resulted from the merger with RailEx company, and my responsibilities included overseeing the integration process and ensuring a smooth transition of operations between the two entities. Provided strategic leadership and guidance throughout the process. Collaborated with a cross-functional IT team comprising over 100 resources. Together, we successfully executed the migration of data centers, warehouse software/hardware, IoT infrastructure, and other equipment as part of the merger with RailEx company’s Produce business. Oversaw the implementation of cloud-based solutions, including AWS, SAP SuccessFactors, Salesforce, and Oracle TMS. This migration extended to LOUP Logistics and Human Resources units, replacing on-premises applications with more efficient cloud-based alternatives.

Managing Change at the Enterprise Level:

oCurrently leading the migration of internal Safety and Healthcare on-prem applications to AWS EC2 and a serverless cloud platform. This initiative is expected to yield monthly operational cost savings of approximately $300K.

oSuccessfully migrated LOUP Logistics' on-premises TMS system to the cloud-based Oracle TMS using APIs and ETL scripts. This transition significantly reduced the maintenance team size, from 30 full-time employees (FTEs) to 15 FTEs.

oImplemented cloud-based single-tenant Salesforce instances for UP and other subdivisions, leveraging MuleSoft as a middleware solution. This integration facilitated seamless two-way communication between Salesforce and on-premises Union Pacific (UP) applications. Anypoint Studio was utilized to develop middleware services, enabling the calling of UP APIs with OAuth authentication and integrating with Salesforce after data transformation. Additionally, modifications were made to MuleSoft designer services within the generated RAML code. These efforts resulted in improved sales team performance and a 10% annual increase in sales volume.

oLed the migration of internal on-premises recruiting and training applications to SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting/Onboarding and Learning modules, significantly enhancing process efficiency and effectiveness. Recruited as a contractor-to-hire to take charge of the development and maintenance of Princeton Consultants' Intermodal Transportation Management System (TMS) application. Led the reengineering and support efforts for this TMS application, resulting in a remarkable annual increase in volume and revenue growth of 30-40%.

oSuccessfully transitioned maintenance and support of the Pegasus TMS application from Princeton Consultants' vendor to the LOUP-Logistics development team, resulting in a substantial reduction of $350K in monthly vendor maintenance costs.
