The first 5 years of my nursing practice started on a Medical-Surgical floor establishing basic patient care skills.
The majority of my career has been spent in Critical Care as a staff nurse in the MICU for the last 21 years. My expertise includes the assessment and care of critically ill patients with life-threatening illness or injury. I am proficient at managing patients on mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non-invasive, monitoring and titrating vasoactive medications, treating complicated wound care, providing CRRT. I possess excellent communication skills, both with Team members, and particularly, in the psycho-social aspects of nursing care to my patients and their families.
My cross training include hemodialysis treatment and staff nurse for the Imaging Department. Additionally, I was provided Ebola training and education including the use of PPE/EVD equipment. I developed as a leader through my roles as staff nurse, charge nurse, preceptor, Code Team nurse and as a member of various hospital committees including Chair of our Unit Council. As most ICU nurses, I am calm under pressure.
My personal care delivery model is based on cooperation, compassion and the high ethical standards of our profession.
