JOB PROFILE, PURPOSE, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AT MOPANI COPPER MINES
JOB PROFILE
Plan, organize, implement, oversee and provide technical assistance to, metallurgical processes( i.e smelter, refinery and concentrator), engineering and other support services to resolve occupational health and safety issues. Other assignments include; Conducting audits based on OHSAS 18001:2007, risk identification. Risk assessment ( JSA), updating the risk register/documentation, incident investigation and closures.
JOB PURPOSE
To develop, implement and maintain an Occupational health and safety system based on the OHSAS 18001 Standard.
To monitor compliance according to OHSAS 18001 requirements.(ISO45001-Compliance)
Plant facilities inspections and conducting good housekeeping competitions
Conducting statutory Inspections on Lifting, Pressure vessels, Appointments
Actively Iam involved in Conducting internal and external audits
Risk management
To assess environmental impacts of mining activities and provide expert guidance and advice to the Company so as to minimize the adverse impacts on the environment and ensure compliance to various statutory legislations on water, air, land and waste management.
To implement, sustain and continuously improve OHSAS 18001
Management system of BOPs for the Departments.
To monitor compliance with and implementation of the Environmental Management Plan in accordance with the timetable contained therein.
Legal compliance monitoring and surveillance
Ensuring the Hierarchy of control of risks is adhered to.
Incident investigation and carrying out root cause analysis
Conducting and reporting the Internal HSE Inspections and audits
Conducting Risk assessments
Developing the internal HSE procedures
Enforcement of the internal HSE procedures and HSE policy.
Conducting HSE Awareness campaigns to the Community/Employees
