CRU is a database application that is currently hosted on a Teradata database. CRU gets data from several source systems. For some systems, the data is delivered to us on a UNIX platform. For other source systems, we need to pull the data (source databases are ORACLE, DB2, SYBASE, and SQL SERVER).

We currently use SAS as an ETL tool to massage the data into a format that can be loaded into Teradata.

Responsibilities:

Strong experience in various databases oracle, teradata and db2

Production support and solving trouble shooting issues

Debugging and testing applications in development area

Using data mappings to create ETL flows within SAS to load that data into a new data warehouse.

Migration Data Warehouse

Title: SAS Programmer

GEICO has a Legacy Data Warehouse(LDW) that is approximately 10 years old, LDW holds Claims, Actuarial, Marketing, Telecom, and Policy data, GEICO data wear house hardware is upgraded from Sun Solaris to IBM AIX with P650 RISC Servers and database up gradation from Informix to DB2 which is base for EDW (Enterprise data wear house).The GEICO Warehouse team is seeking to migrate the LDW data to the Migration Data Warehouse environment with minimal re-engineering of data structures and functionality. The only modifications that will be made are those that are required by the operating parameters of the new AIX/DB2 environment. GEICO is replacing the LDW using Portions of the data and functionality in the LDW are being re-engineered and moved to a new Enterprise Data Warehouse. The EDW provides significant improvements in functionality and data quality over the LDW. The remaining data and functionality will be moved to an interim Migration Data Warehouse (MDW). The Migration Data Warehouse Project uses non-standard hardware (Solaris servers and Informix) and external support services for the current LDW system. The Migration Project will use internal resources around GEICO standard equipment for the EDW environment (IBM AIX servers and DB2 databases).

Responsibilities:

Involved in migration of data from Informix on SunOS 5.8 to DB2 on AIX 5.3 and validation of mainframe jobs, UNIX jobs, SAS Reports, History data, other scripts, and programs from the Legacy Data Warehouse (LDW)

Involved in modify Legacy Data Warehouse SAS jobs to run on the MDW platform and execute SQL against the DB2.

Using Korn shell scripts execute SAS jobs that move data from Informix to SAS MDDBs or SAS datasets.

Responsible for migrating the korn shell scripts, which will perform the Extraction Translation and Loading of data.

Responsible for establishing the connection to data base in the new environment, optimizing the shell scripts according to the EDW requirement.

Rewriting the SQL quires with the new table structure.

Generate Multi-dimensional data databases (MDDBs) within SAS OLAP Server

Create flat file SAS datasets, generate reports that are posted on DirectNet where they are accessible by users SAS jobs are categorized as Production.

Production jobs are built by placing as SAS procedure within a Korn shell script that is then excuted via JCL and through CA-7 scheduler.
