Warehouse Operations- Junior-Level Supervisor

As a Shipping Dock Supervisor:

Conducted a pre-shift evaluation of the dock to ensure all dock plates and loading doors were functioning properly, and addressed any safety issues such as wet spills, product spills, or highly stacked wood.

Generated carry over and billing totals and reported these figures to management.

Estimated the number of loaders and floaters required to complete the shift, and assigned these jobs to union associates who ranked high in seniority.

Conducted yard inventory of all available trailers needed to complete the loads.

Generated and distributed customer work orders and instructions to loaders and floaters, and monitored and supervised their loading activities, to ensure that productivity and quality standards were being met; proper loading techniques were being executed; and issued disciplinary action, in the form of write-ups and suspensions, if those standards were compromised.

Securely belted and braced all completed loads to prevent shifting or damaging of shipment during transit.

Monitored and supervised the activities of the yard switchers to ensure that all completed outbound trailers and all inbound empty trailers were being rotated in a timely fashion, and verified that all empty trailers were in compliance with customer size specifications.

Verified all products being loaded utilizing a sticker-sticker/check-check system, by which products listed on the customer work order were checked against the loader’s E.O.U load diagram to ensure guaranteed delivery.

As a Section Supervisor:

Conducted pre-shift inspections of the warehouse, in general, and my sections, in particular, for any housekeeping or safety issues that needed to be addressed

Assigned forklift operator, salvage, and sanitation jobs to union associates who ranked high in seniority

Generated the number of full pallets available for distribution and reported these figures to management.

Identified the total number of storage trailers available for the shift and communicated this information to management

Coordinated and continuously supervised a team of forklift operators to ensure proper rotation and slotting of products; to ensure that selector requests for product let downs are satisfied expeditiously, thus minimizing the number of scratches; and to maintain a clean and safe working environment for selectors to select.

Performed Hilo audits to evaluate forklift operator productivity and take disciplinary action against those operators with excessive lapse time.

Performed Reserve audits to determine reserve product availability

Issued Safety Observation Cards to selectors who were in violation of safety guidelines and created an unsafe work environment for the rest of their co-workers.

As a Quality Assurance Supervisor:

Performed an average of 150 quality pallet audits a week as a means of reducing the number of selection and quality errors, and to promote proper pallet construction.

Issued Stop Cards to selectors and loaders who were in violation of quality standards, and coached, counseled, and disciplined those offenders as a means of promoting quality-minded employees.

Generated a report with all the evening’s quality and productivity infractions and submitted this report to man
