• Interpret blueprints and schematics and MIG or TIG weld parts as defined in specification sheets.

• Combine proper welding techniques and procedures, requirements to produce quality work safely and efficiently.

• Cut shape and bend metal plates and sheets, tubes and structures using power saws, plasma, torch cutting sheet metal shears, hydraulic press brake and band saw.

• Analyze all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches to correctly fabricate and install products and parts.

• Punch, drill and thread holes using drill press, hydraulic ironworkers, and die and tap sets.

• Position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers.

• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

• Examine completed work for defects and measure pieces with straightedges and templates to ensure conformance with specifications; report nonconforming material to team leader for quality assurance.

• Position and clamp work pieces together and properly assemble them in gigs and fixtures.
