Lab Billing Molecular Tech Coordinator 11/06/2018-Present The Laboratory Billing Coordinator performs a variety of billing related tasks under the general supervision of Laboratory Revenue Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include obtaining authorizations for Molecular lab tests and Sleep studies, obtain missing Insurance or Diagnosis codes and timely communication with the manager and Lab Compliance Coordinator for efficient billing compliance. Customer support for molecular labs which entails checking the hourly report for molecular labs and then checking with the patient’s insurance if a Prior Authorization is required, contacting send outs to release or cancel the lab and communicating with the requesting doctor’s office regarding the authorizations process.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Daily billing report send out molecular specimen to mayo if is okay with prior auth.

• Responsible for completing daily all designated Epic work queues to resolve all insurance coverage issues prior to billing and ensure accurate claims processing.

• Calling insurance for verification or prior authorization for Molecular Lab tests.

• Daily review of certain send out tests for verification of accurate billing and entry of charges for government payers.

• Timely follow up to obtain additional diagnosis information when medical necessity is not met to include review of requisitions,

• faxing of supplemental requisitions, receipt of supplemental requisitions, updating diagnosis in registration system, tracking, and scanning of supplemental requisitions.

• Prior authorization obtains for molecular testing.

• Copath report and checking for NWVPs on urine tests and reverse for all patients listed under LAB location for each patient, one at time.

• Result and updated laboratory from mayo clinic and LabCorp lab and Quest Diagnosing.

• responsible for coding all diagnoses returned on supplemental requisitions.

• responsible for entering the diagnosis code(s) using the Coding tab in the registration system.
