Director of Logistics

Circle K. Houston, Texas. January 2023 - present.

6-month contract position where I’m leading supply operations responsible for keeping fuel supply flush across 6,000 stores in the US flush on all grades of fuel. Responsibilities include working with fuel demand planners, logistics team and planning team to work through multiple challenges and issues with keeping supply flowing and keeping tanks flush enough to keep sales.

Working in a start-up environment, I’ve delivered stability in the logistics workforce, structure around processes and scalability through career path planning for the department.

Distribution General Manager

Specialized Bicycle Components. Salt Lake City, UT. December 2020 - December 2022

As the senior leader of supply chain for the western half of the US, I led operations including, inbound/outbound transportation, distribution operations, replenishment, service, and warranty inventory ops as well as reverse/return logistics across 3 sites totaling 600k sq ft.

In my time with Specialized, I revolutionized the operation in all areas of operational performance. I created systems and processes around goal setting, performance management/recognition, resource management and other operational and organizational excellence programs that drove results. I led the operation through COVID and came out of it stronger than ever delivering all time bests in overall KPIs.

Skillfully developed a culture of continuous improvement that led to historic bests in productivity and financial performance.

Key figure in WMS (Blue Yonder) selection and implementation.

Implemented Lean culture including 6S program, Kaizen Principles, Go to Gemba.

Director of Fulfillment Operations

Maersk. Salt Lake City, UT. June 2020 - December 2020

6-month contract position while Visible Supply Chain was in the process of selling to Maersk.

Designed tools and programs to address the greatest inefficiency in the building… resource planning, sharing, and shifting. This program increased output by 17%, service levels from 94% to 97.5% and customer satisfaction scores improved by 4.7%

Created a supervisor scorecard to bring visibility and accountability to supervisors in the building. This tool provided performance reporting for leaders that had not existed before. It also tracked cost per order allowing leaders to focus on underperforming clients and either drive cost out, request rate increases or a combination of both.

Operation processed over 50,000 lines per day at maximum and consistently processed 35,000 per day.

Project Manager/Consultant

In late 2018, both of my parents experienced significant medical circumstances that required me to take time away from work to assist them in their time of need. During this time, I was focused on their needs but was also able to do some project work and consultations.

Director of Operations

Comcast. Salt Lake City, UT June 2017 - August 2018

Directed supply chain and logistics for the Mountain West Region. Led a team of supply chain technicians in the mountain west distribution operation. Responsible for logistics/transportation of electronics, materials and supplies to field, retail stores in the region and self-install kits. Managed 3PL transportation providers including selection, contract negotiations, service levels and root cause gap analysis. In this role, I supported field operations, retail stores, construction projects, inside and outside plants.

Accomplishments include incorporation of a culture of continuous improvement which incorporated the principles of Lean Six Sigma into the day-to-day operations. The result of this feat was improvements in total KPI performance through a series of successful improvement projects.

Director of Supply Chain Operations

Spectrum. Nashville, TN, July 2013 - June 2017

Directed supply chain for the 6-site hub and spoke operation from Aug 2015-June 2017. In this role, I led CPE testing and programming for the region. This included responsibility for maintaining a Cisco and Motorola mini headend for the purpose of programming 13K units per week.

Accomplishments: Established a tote load demand model that led to improved customer experience by increasing CPE availability allowing technicians to complete more jobs without additional truck rolls. Full physical inventory results improved from 94% ($600K write off) to 99.7% ($6K write in) by a series of improvement projects that focused on quality programs, productivity enhancements and better employee training.

Sr Logistics Manager

Exel Logistics. Jackson, MO. November 2008 – June 2013

As a 3PL provider, I worked onsite at the Procter & Gamble paper manufacturing plant in Jackson, MO. I led a team of team of 300 logistics associates managing materials, transportation, inventory control, order processing, maintenance, yard management and safety. The campus was made up of the manufacturing plant and 3 distribution sites. I led the distribution sites which totaled 1.5m square ft and was staffed 24/7.

Schneider Logistics. Memphis, TN September 1998 - November 2008

As a 3PL provider, working onsite at the Ford Motor Co.’s’ 900K sq. ft. 3-site distribution campus, managed the Ford Motor co account including domestic and international… inbound and outbound transportation in support of over 5,000 Ford dealerships and independent retail and repair shops. $175M transportation costs include air, rail, ocean, LTL, TL, haz-mat, customs, and reverse logistics.

Designed and led a complex and high performing inbound and outbound transportation network that improved service levels from 89% to 97.5%. Responsibilities included carrier selection from a bid process and contract negotiations as well as performance management of vendors. 3-time winner of the “Partner of the Year” award and personally recognized by Ford for maintaining operations during a tornado which knocked out power for 24 hours.

Promoted 4 times in my 10 years at Schneider.

Started as a frontline associate in New Orleans and was promoted to supervisor of emergency fulfillment in 1993. Promoted to manager of the Memphis emergency fulfillment operation in 1995 and to General Manager of the IBM laptop and emergency fulfillment operation in 1996.
