1982 – 1995 – University of Utah – Administrative Assistant - Women’s Resource Center; Executive Secretary: Department of Child Psychiatry, Department of Educational Psychology; Department of Mines and Engineer. Lab Assistant, Department of Biology.

June 1996- January1997 - Traveled to Mexico, Canada and the American Southwest assisting in the capture, tagging, release and documentation of parthenogenic lizards.

1997 – 1998 Division of Child and Family Services – CPS Investigator and Family Preservation Worker. Investigated referrals for physical and sexual abuse and/or neglect. Resigned after one year to work at Cornerstone Counseling Center where I was an intern during my second year in the social work program at the University of Utah.

1998-2002 Cornerstone Counseling Center, Spanish-Speaking Family and Child Therapist. Assessed and provided family and individual therapy. Conducted groups at the Kathryn R. Huntsman Center for Spanish-speaking women and children who were victims of Domestic Violence. Conducted family, individual and group therapy at Decker Lake Youth Center and Wasatch Youth Center. Facilitated and coordinated psycho-educational groups for Latino adolescents at Granite High School.

2002-2007 - Valley Mental Health, Children’s Outpatient Services. Spanish-Speaking Mental Health Therapist. Assess, diagnose and provide culturally sensitive therapy to the Latino population in Salt Lake County. Worked with youth ages 4 to 18 and families of domestic violence. Facilitate and coordinate groups for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade females at Granite High School. The groups are conducted in Spanish and designed for Hispanic students who are considered at high risk for gang involvement, substance use and abuse and teen pregnancy.

Academic Year 2007-2008 –Dual Immersion Academy (DIA), Assistant Director. Wrote grants, provide administrative and social services as well as community referrals. Coordinate volunteers from the University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College, USU and other organizations to provide services to children attending DIA. Other duties as assigned.

August 2008 – February 2015 - The Children’s Center Kearns, Utah. Provided Spanish-Speaking mental health therapy to the large Hispanic population in the area. The clinical work included conducting mental health assessments, intakes, treatment and discharge planning with the clients. I provided culturally sensitive therapy to children from eighteen months to ten years of age and their families. I worked with children and their families who were exposed to one or multiple traumatic events including medical trauma, sex abuse, dog bites, domestic violence, automobile accidents, community, gang and political violence and separations due to caregivers being deported out of the U.S.

August 2006 – Present – Private Practice – Provide mental health therapy for Spanish-speaking clients, providing mental health treatment for families, couples, children and adolescents who have been exposed to a traumatic experience. Work with immigration attorneys to write mental health assessments for clients seeking a pardon for illegal entry and/or political asylum in the United States.

September 1, 2021 - November 2022 – Catholic Charities - New Journeys IRT Therapist – Providing therapy for individual suffering from their First Psychotic Episode. Conduct intakes for populations of varying ages for the agency.

RECENT TRAININGS 2012 - 2017

I was trained and successfully completed a three-year Learning Collaborative with the developers of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Drs. Judith A. Cohen and Anthony P. Mannarino. I received monthly supervision from Dr. Anthony Mannarino while providing TF-CBT treatment to children and families who were exposed to single or multiple traumatic events.

Trained and successfully completed Theraplay treatment by Phyllis B. Booth and Ann J. Jernberg.
