Experience

SunTrust/Truist – Atlanta, GA Vice President, Portfolio Manager September 2016 – September 2020

As part of the Enterprise Data Organization, I led management of projects and programs for a large national bank, focusing on data analytics, system analysis, wholesale and cross functional projects including software and infrastructure projects. My focus was on improving the organization and accessibility of information on our data lake in order to improve the time needed to load, disburse, and query the data while also increasing the security of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). I helped develop policies and standards for how and where data will reside as well as formalize standards for its organization and maintenance. In addition to my work with analytics, I led development teams within the wholesale, consumer, and mortgage segments, being responsible in each area for both larger, more formal projects and smaller, quicker projects to deliver immediate value. I provided mentoring and training to more junior employees being groomed for management.

I led and helped coordinate post-merger activities as Suntrust evolved into Truist Bank with responsibility for evaluation and selection of surviving systems that would allow what were two large national banks to seamlessly exchange information as they merged into a single entity. This coordination was done with global cross functional teams doing both new development and integration and mapping of existing systems.

Implemented on-line merchant application system which shortened time required to authorize a merchant to accept charges from 4 days to 15 minutes. Developed optimized routing system allowing large (primarily airline) customers to process charges in the country in which the card was issued, reducing fees for optimizable cards by ~60% and splitting savings with the customer.
