Objective: To obtain a certified sterile processing technician position at UCHealth Fort Collins.

Certifications: Have completed a 400 hour internship at Orthopedic and Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR) through Aims Community College. Will register for HSPA CRCST exam in January.

Internship experience:

Decontamination: manual cleaning of instruments and complex instruments, use of ultrasonic cleaners, enzymatic detergents, and automatic washers. Tested automatic washers and ultrasonic washers each day. Proper donning and doffing of PPE when in decontamination.

Assembly and packaging: arranged, assembled, and wrapped surgical trays both owned, consigned, and loaned from vendors with chemical indicators in all trays and peel packs using printed count sheets for each tray.

Sterilization: Sterilized instruments both trays and peel packs in high temperature steam sterilizers utilizing biological indicator quality assurance test for each sterilizer load. Ran sterilizer warm up and Bowie-Dick DART quality assurance tests each shift and ran a weekly leak test for each sterilizer. Also logged, by hand, instruments on sterilization log sheet.

Storage and Distribution: Stored sterilized instruments on open shelves in the Sterile core and was responsible for ensuring loaner and consigned trays were ready for next day surgeries.

Equipment: weekly, assembled case cart surgery supplies using surgical preference card for each case.
