HILCO Transport, Inc., Greensboro, NC 2018 – Present

Safety Manager

●Member of Hilco’s management team, have experienced a significant increase in responsibilities over the past 4 and years. The company grew from 425 employees to over 600 in that time, plus 100 owner operators.

●Gather all information and reports on, then enter and maintain incident spreadsheet and DOT reportable incidents for the Safety and HR departments. Separating out behavioural issues from safety issues.

●Manage safety bonus program; review all data from incident spreadsheet for the prior 6 months, work with all line managers to ensure data is correct, help facilitate and make decisions on out of the norm incidents. When data is all compiled – work with AP to issue safety bonus checks to employees.

●Duties regarding DER (Designated Employer Representative) Drug and alcohol program …i.e Clearinghouse.

●Manage quarterly drug and alcohol random pools, for both DOT and non-DOT employees.

●As DER (Designated Employer Representative), I compile data on all positive drug tests and administer resolution including writing/administering progressive disciplinary action forms and/or termination forms, administering the SAP program and managing observed random testing schedule for 2 to 5 years, and administer the terminations when necessary.

●Coordinate with all levels of Management to coordinate pre and random drug screens.

●Stay current on all FMCSA rules and regulations to ensure companywide compliance of all.

●Handle reports from internal and external customers on safety/HR issues and incidents.

●Work alongside the Director of Recruiting and VP of Safety/HR to ensure weekly on-boarding takes place every Monday morning simultaneously at 4 separate locations.

●Manage for DOT compliance for all employees, updating two systems for personnel and DOT electronic files.

Key Accomplishments:

●Instrumental in implementing, getting the company up to speed and becoming the Subject Matter Expert in the Clearinghouse program (a new DOT compliance that began in 2019). Worked closely with VP of Human Resources to set up this program.

●Became the DER (Designated Employer Representative) for the company within a few weeks of joining the Safety team. This designation is the primary contact on all matters.

●Made significant changes to streamline the process of accident & incident reporting, work with managers to ensure proper, detailed, and timely reporting.

●Head up the driver verification process in TenStreet..

Dispatcher

●My job was to problem solve, and if I was not able too, then direct them to the necessary department that could schedule loads of fuel products to customer locations.

●Made sure all loads would fit in locations by reading tank gauges.

●Utilized dispatch software (TMW) to coordinate and communicate load directive to drivers.
