Financial Planning and Analysis Associate at Open Capital Advisors - (September 2020 – Current) Open Capital Advisors is a management consulting and financial advisory firm committed to Africa’s growth. The company was founded in 2010 and has Prescence in over 20 countries currently, spread across Africa. The company has over 200 staff working across the different countries around the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial reporting and analysis - preparing management accounts for purposes of helping to secure funding from investors and advise the management on strategy.

• Normal day to day accounting tasks including credit control, setting the credit period for customers and debt collection, Bank reconciliation (During Covid 19) in the absence of junior staff, processing statutory deductions and filing of returns as required by law (VAT (R)+ WHVAT+WHT)

• Supporting the CFO with the preparation of annual consolidated accounts and the external statutory audit by producing reports, supporting documentation and explanations as required.

• Preparing interim and final donor financial statements, cumulative summaries, and periodic forecasts for review by finance managers, ensuring that these are accurate, that they are consistent with reported programme activity and that they are produced in accordance with agreed deadlines.

• Ensuring that donor/Grantor reports and forecasts comply with grant contracts, particularly for those donors with very specific detailed information requirements.

• Ensuring that transactions and cost allocations charged to grants are compliant with expenditure restrictions specified within donor agreements, and with donor requirements for allowable expenditure.

• Checking and closing donor grants that have reached their completion date, ensuring that final reports have been submitted, all funds are received, and contractual obligations met.

• Monitoring the operation of Open Capital Advisors financial processes including procurement and payments, ensuring that published procedures are followed, reporting any significant breaches and approving transactions in line with delegated authority.

• Drawing on observations and analysis of processes and procedures for financial management and donor accounting to provide suggestions, recommendations, and observations for improvements to finance managers.
