Duties and Responsibilities

•I assisted in power generation, on several occasions- I took time to understand how steam and pressure is used to create electric energy, producing up to about 4MW power that contributed to 60% of the overall power used in the factory routine maintenance program that includes; distribution boards preventive maintenance, capacitor bank-power factor correction and general troubleshooting

•Motor diagnostics; full motor diagnosis to determine water level and recommendation if it safe for operation or it is risky depending on the megger readings, wiring diagram analysis and drawing, terminal prediction, rewinding assistance and testing

•High and Low speed AC three- phase motor installation and preventive maintenance services; use of couplings and gear boxes to control load speed.

•Installation of three- phase and single phase motors: I understood the different methods of starting motors, their application and wiring of control circuits whether in reverse or forward.

•Different motor starting methods and application; from auto-transformers, star-delta, direct on line (DOL), Liquid resistance start method, resistance start method.

•Domestic/ industrial wiring and circuit diagram interpretation; I took my time to go through some of the panel board and switch board manuals, trying to understand how to interpret and troubleshoot problems through understanding electrical symbols and signs. I am proud we successfully came to install a Variable frequency Drive (VFD) and assisted in installation of a bypass panel board.
