Hobbies, Interests

I like to read biographies of successful people, and inspirational motivating material, History, and the philosophy of man. My wife and I have invested in income generating real estate since 2001 which has given me valuable experience in dealing with people. I would like to transition to teaching and aiding in health and safety of fellow workers, especially apprentices and new journeyman. I have been a past member of Christian toastmasters to improve and overcome small fears of speaking in front of an audience, and staying focused on what is being said to be better understood.

Since I like to read in my spare time, I am also in part entering into free lance writing, partly in the plumbing and safety, some inspirational and esoteric philosophy. I have joined a writing forum for a wide variety of given topics. Perhaps the tool box topics can be a part of this.

I also try to keep in average to better physical condition by distance swimming cycling and kayaking, weather permitting. Due to the past two years, some of the challenge have been responded to by more walking, and the use of an elyptical trainer.

I am also keeping pace with installation techniques for hydronics and geothermal installation and service. With the technological advances happening, discussion with fellow installers is vital and necessary. Also requiring me to adjust to automation vehicles for billing, scheduling and planning, personally I like to keep options open between the service industry, new construction and renovations.

I need to make an inroad to web content optimization, both in designing systems and utilizing video instruction. Copy writing.

Installed plumbing in residential and commercial projects, doing both drainage and potable water distribution systems.

I have a wide range of skills that could be a very valuable asset, also being asked if I was comfortable mentoring apprentices and new journeymen in the trade, agreeing.

I also have updated safety training for touchback, SCBA Saba and bottle watch, Air purifier fit test, and elevated work platform, along with confined space.

I have no criminal record, and a clear driving license.

Allow me to introduce myself, Lionel, Guy Norman Levoir, a 61 year old Journeyman Plumber, Pipefitter, Gasfitter, with over 40 years of experience working and learning, since High school. That is where I was introduced to the benefits of this rewarding occupation. Looking back, I have had numerous employers, working in many areas giving me a broad range of skills and learning experiences, and not being laid off for bad habits, but actual completion and shortage of work. I have also worked in a couple of machine shops in slow economic times, also a couple Hvac sheet metal shops on fairly well sized renovation projects.

Some of the outside education includes Lennox Hvac for residential and small commercial, Rinnai Level 2 troubleshooting, IBC and NTI boilers, and Hi Velocity hydronic heating fan coils, manufactured here in Edmonton. In 1993 I took the steamfitter upgrading course successfully passing, and recently writing the Steamfitter red seal exam, successfully passing.

Over the years i have also been operating two of my own small businesses, one a plumbing Heating and gas fitting service where we are contracting, replacing furnaces and boilers in homes, designing and installing Radiant floor heating in new and existing homes. This has had the requirement of doing in house estimating of job costs, quality control of testing, start up of equipment, and final inspection producing results for civic inspection authorities.

My other business involved property management from acquisition to operating, maintaining building systems while keeping each suite in better than acceptable living standards. I have also worked for the public school board many years ago.

Most of my employment has been in Industrial steam fitting on construction or maintenance, Ranging from chemical plants and refineries, pulp and paper mills or power plants like Genesee. I especially enjoy working like a team on rigging crews using most sizes of cranes or manual rigging using proper rigging practices chainfalls, turfers and come alongs .

In closing, my spare time is taken up reading material of health and personal development, biographies of significant people, renovation projects, appreciating the outdoors kayaking, some hiking and distance swimming to stay fit. I enjoy being up early watching the sun rise graciously over the horizon whether at work or not! In attempting to make this cover letter short and concise is a challenge in that at this stage of life, there is no short story but the long part of the short story!
