Summary:
Astute, results-oriented, self-motived professional, with a passion for excellence. Proven ability to adapt to new surroundings while remaining observant and accurately assessing what needs to be done in order to close the deal. A Telecom specialist with over 28 years of experience on several platforms. In 2 different hospitals St Joseph Hospital Parkersburg, WV 20 years. And WVU CCMC Medical Center Parkersburg, WV 8 Years.
After going to Adult education Technology training in Nelsonville, OH 1989 through 1990 18 month’s for communications was certified.
Started working at ST Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV in 1992 as a Telecom tech on a NEC 2400 system. Learned the system from onsite tech. Could program all phones and Voicemails. Learned all IT Closets and how to trace wiring from Switch room to Jacks. Ran new wire when needed and terminated. I also took over all the pager’s hundred’s kept spreadsheet replaced broken ones. Installed Note Pager Pro for operators to make group pages for OR emergency, Trauma 1,2 Ect many.
Around 1997 HCA Corporation the largest Company with over 300 hospitals bought out St Joseph’s hospital the senior tech left for a job in Florida. Leaving it all on me. They changed the phone System to a new Nortel 81C in 1998 as they were putting in all their hospitals. I was sent to Dallas, TX and was certified in Nortel Power Networks Meridian 1 Option 11 – 81C Familiarization on 12-2 1998. Then sent to Lapalme, CA And was certified on Nortel Power Networks X11 release 23 Basic Database Administration on 1-22-1999.
After vendor Crossed everything over in early 1999 From NEC 2400 To Nortel 81C he left me paperwork showed me a few things and I was on my own. I had books from Nortel training Learned the whole system sometimes had to get some help from vendor. All went great. I was running the system myself for the hospital. Could do everything program all phones install etc. Voicemail and ACD. On Call pilot voicemail system. I can Terminate jumper cables on 110 blocks, 66 blocks and BIX. I have run at least 100,000 ft of cable Cat3,Cat5 and Cat6. And terminate them to RJ-45 ends.
I was then promoted to Telecom Manager. I took care of all aspects of the Telecom switch as always. On call 24-7-365 . Made sure all staffs telecom needs were taking care of from CEO to the bottom.
HCA after bringing Heart Surgery to Parkersburg, They finally sold to a different company things stayed the same. Then it happened again then again. Camden Clark Hospital down the street finally bought ST Joseph Hospital with the help of WVU Ruby on 3\1\2011 and got the Heart Surgery. WVU Medicine bought Camden Clark Hospital.
WVU Camden Clark Medical Center is a great Hospital. I then joined with them as did many from ST Joseph’s on 3/1/2011. I had to learn their system Mitel 3300. Was showed by 2 Telecom Tech’s there. I then took over all pagers from both hospitals over 400. I was doing this at ST Joseph also. Added Note Pager Pro for Both Operator’s programmed pager groups OR emergency, Trauma 1 and Trauma 2, RRT, Etc. All groups so they could just click and send message and any pager that had that group went off simultaneously.
Took care of everybody, broken pagers I replaced and programmed the groups they needed. New staff members I would have a new pager number assigned from Telepage and add any groups they may need. Documented put in group numbers from the pager Cap Codes on software cradle for Alpha pager’s Surgery, Trauma you name it.
I know How to program all phone’s on that system from Analog, digital to VOIP phones all kinds. We had 9 system’s and had to use excel spreadsheet to look up existing phone’s to know what system they were in to go into that system and make changes to phone’s. Had MIcollab Voicemail system. Could program Voicemail even Voicemail to email.
It took time to learn all the IT closets for sure and wiring but I have those skills. And I know the entire hospital and many offsite locations we had our phones all over Parkersburg, WV and surrounding city’s.
The last year I also would RDP into WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital and make program changes, Voicemail, also Voicemail to email Name changes whatever they needed on a Toshiba system I have never seen. Had PC techs there do replacement of phones onsite. Cords, headsets whatever they needed.
I worked with PC Techs on moves and new installs at times. I Know how to get Switch information for Network Infra and tell them I need VLAN and Voice put on switch port for IP Phone’s. We used Panduit wire management on our racks for switches and RJ-45 jacks. I’ve installed those on new racks also. I’ve even helped them install the racks and install the Cisco switches. The Network Tech’s would call me to go look at a switch that may be down. May be main campus or off-site location. We worked as a team. I even checked for backup battery issues for them. We always got it fixed. I reset or replaced. I have PC skills Excel, Word, RDP, Teams, Etc.
I’m a team player and love helping everyone!
Sincerely,
Mike Kellison
