Position: Structural and Project Engineer (Own company) Duties:

Structural design of concrete and steel buildings, concrete bridges, restaurants and gas stations. Recent projects include structural design of a Fuel Pumping Station for Telfer Tanks Inc in Colón, Panama. This work was done for Tampa Tanks of Florida, USA. Also structural analysis and design of an 80,000 m2 building complex for “Iglesia Fraternidad Cristiana de Guatemala”, which includes a 12,000 seat covered auditorium with steel trusses up to 75 m. long, a 6 story parking garage, school and library buildings. Other projects include structural analysis and design of reinforced and post-tensioned concrete bridge projects ranging from 10 m. to 60m. in length. In the area of construction management work was done in several residential and building projects. 2

In the transportation area work has included the supervision of two highway projects in Guatemala. One project is a 12 km road with Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement in Huehuetenango. The other project is the repair of an existing asphalt road damaged with several landslide in Baja Verapaz. It required different mitigation techniques like retaining walls with rock filled Gabion Baskets and also Geotextile Mat Reinforcement. The road was paved with asphalt. Also in the transportation area work was done in design and construction of a 77,5 mt box culvert for a highway project. It is a 6.90 mt diameter reinforced concrete circular structure to cross Rio El Arenal in Guatemala

Position: Design Manager for Central America

Duties:

Manage and coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical engineers and draftsman in the process of producing all the deliverables necessary for the construction of two Power plant projects in El Salvador (Central America).

The first project was AES Nejapa Landfill 6 MW Gas Power plant, fueled by methane gas from the Nejapa Landfill. Work included planning and design of all the components of the plant, including the Chiller Compressor, TSA modules, Power House, switchgear room, chimney structures, radiators and substation yard.

The second Project was the Termopuerto Turnkey Power Plant in Acajutla. Work included planning and design of all the components of the 73 MW HFO fuel Power Plant, including the Power House, Step-up transformer, Substation yard and overhead Transmission Line to connect to the grid. Position: Project Engineer

Duties:

Supervisory position working in the area of Soil Nailing, Retaining walls with Tie Backs and Reinforced Concrete Piles. Responsible for project budget control and scheduling. Also, cost estimating for materials, equipment and engineering services. Directed several projects using soil nailing retaining walls for multistory buildings with four to five story underground parking garages. Also worked on landslide protection using posttensioned Tie Backs. January 1987 to July 1994 PRECON (Preesforzados y Construcciones S.A.) Guatemala, Central America

Position: Structural Engineer

Duties:

Structural design of prestressed and posttensioned bridges, precast buildings and warehouses. Duties included analysis and design, preparation of engineering plans, direct and oversee project compliance with design, construction and safety regulations and standards. Significant projects include “Moca bridge” with 40 m. long post-tensioned concrete beams and “Electroma building”, a four story precast concrete structure that was built while the owner still used his old warehouse below the new structure been constructed. Also, design and supervision of a 1,200 mt2 precast concrete building for the power generation station at Cementos Progreso plant in El Rancho, Guatemala.
